Full Notice Text
Notice of Availability for Public Comment on Proposed Pavement Improvements within a 100- Year Floodplain at Marana Regional Airport, Marana, Arizona The Town of Marana, as sponsor of Marana Regional Airport (Airport), intends to reconstruct portions of the Airport's pavement (Taxiway 'C') to improve safety and drainage. These improvements would replace deteriorated pavement and reduce flood risk by reducing stormwater ponding on the Taxiway. A portion of the drainage improvements will encroach upon approximately 31,400 square feet (0.72 acres) of regulated floodplain (a.k.a. flood zone). Encroachment within the floodplain is limited to construction of an earthen, depressed drainage pipe outlet. The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out according to FAA Order 1050.1F and Executive Order 11988, Floodplain Management. The improvements are not expected to impact the floodplain's natural and beneficial functions such as surface water quality maintenance, groundwater recharge, biological productivity, and wildlife habitat. The project area is entirely disturbed and does not currently provide any natural benefits and is not expected to ever provide benefits. The floodplains' functions related to natural flood and erosion control may exist in the project area but would not be significantly impacted by the proposed project activities. A map showing the project (Figure 1) is available for review along with this notice at: [https://www.maranaaz.gov/airport] Since the Town is seeking Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) funding and approval of federal actions occurring in a 100-year floodplain, public notice and an opportunity for comment is being provided. The public may submit comments on the proposed project and the potential effect on the 100-year floodplain for a period of 30 days following the publication of this notice. You may obtain more information or send comments to: Bill Buntin, Town of Marana CIP Division Manager, by email at wbuntin@maranaaz.gov. FAA will consider all comments received during the 30-day comment period before making an environmental determination. Before including your address, phone number, e-mail address, or other personal identifying information in your comment, please be advised that your entire comment - including your personal identifying information may be made publicly available.Publish: The Daily TerritorialDate: April 15, 16, 17, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 27, 28, 29, 30, May 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15, 2026DTT013233
