PUBLIC NOTICEADOPTION OF ORDINANCECITY OF LAGUNA WOODS NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on February 18, 2026 the City Council of the City of Laguna Woods adopted Ordinance No. 26-01 , titled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAGUNA WOODS, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING CHAPTER 2.02 OF THE LAGUNA WOODS MUNICIPAL CODE INCREASING THE SALARY THAT EACH MEMBER OF THE CITY COUNCIL IS ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE AND THE EXPENSES INCURRED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF OFFICIAL DUTIES THAT EACH MEMBER OF THE CITY COUNCIL IS ELIGIBLE TO BE REIMBURSED FOR, AND DETERMINING AND CERTIFYING THAT THE ORDINANCE IS EXEMPT FROM THE CALIFORNIA ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY ACT The ordinance amends Chapter 2.02 (“City Council Generally”) of the Laguna Woods Municipal Code related to the salary that each member of the City Council is eligible to receive and the expenses incurred in the performance of official duties that each member of the City Council is eligible to be reimbursed for. The ordinance is intended to increase the salary that each member of the City Council is eligible to receive in a manner that is consistent with California Government Code Section 36516. Such increase has been proposed due to the existing salary having remained unchanged since it was first adopted in 1999 and not keeping pace with inflation. The ordinance is also intended to modify and update provisions related to the expenses incurred in the performance of official duties that each member of the City Council is eligible to be reimbursed for in a manner that is consistent with California Government Code Section 36514.5. The ordinance will take effect beginning with the salaries paid for, and expenses incurred during, the month of January 2027.
