NOTICE OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS' INTENT TO ADOPT UNCODIFIED ORDINANCE TO RENEW APPROVAL OF A MILITARY EQUIPMENT USE POLICY PURSUANT TO ASSEMBLY BILL 481 The Butte County Board of Supervisors gives notice pursuant to Government Code 25124(b)(1) of its intent to adopt an Ordinance to Renew Approval of a Military Equipment Use Policy pursuant to Assembly Bill 481. The ordinance was introduced at the Board's March 24, 2026 regular meeting, and will be proposed for adoption at the April 14, 2026, meeting. A summary of the proposed ordinance is as follows: The ordinance will fulfill the obligations set forth in Assembly Bill 481 (2021-2022). These obligations include the requirement that law enforcement agencies, including the Butte County Sheriff's Office (BCSO), seek governing body approval of a Military Equipment Use Policy in order to continue using or acquiring certain items that the legislature has classified as military equipment. On June 28, 2022 the Butte County Board of Supervisors ("Board") reviewed and ultimately approved an ordinance adopting BCSO's Military Equipment Use Policy. The Board is required by statute to annually review and vote on whether or not to renew the aforementioned ordinance. The ordinance was subsequently renewed each year since its adoption. This ordinance would make a series of determinations and renew the approval of BCSO's Military Equipment Use Policy as proposed by BCSO for 2026. A certified copy of the full text of the proposed ordinance is available at the Office of the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors, 25 County Center Drive, Suite 200, Oroville, and can be found at buttecounty.net pursuant to agenda posting guidelines. To submit public comment, contact the Clerk of the Board at ClerkoftheBoard@ButteCounty.net or call 530.552.3300. Andy Pickett Chief Administrative Officer & Clerk of the Board of Supervisors
