SUMMARY OF PROPOSED ORDINANCE ADOPTING AUTOMATED POINT-OF-SALE REGULATIONThe Board of Supervisors will, on April 28, 2026, at 1 p.m. in the Board of Supervisors Meeting Room at 330 Fair Lane Court, Placerville, hold a public hearing and vote on the passage of a proposed Ordinance that would establish a regulatory program for the County Sealer of Weights and Measures to register and inspect point-of-sale systems pursuant to Business and Professions Code 13350 et seq. The proposed Ordinance would require businesses using point-of-sale systems to register with the County Sealer annually, pay an annual registration fee, be subject to delinquency penalties, and re-inspection fees. In addition, the County Sealer would inspect all point-of-sale systems under a schedule determined by the County Sealer, including re-inspections. The proposed Ordinance would be effective 30 days after final adoption by the County Board of Supervisors. The Board of Supervisors will also consider and vote on whether the adoption of this Ordinance is a Project for purposes of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), and, if it were a Project, whether it would be exempt under the Class 9 Categorical Exemption as stated in CEQA Guidelines Section 15309.
