Notice of Vacancy - Commission on Aging :President of the Board of Supervisors Noelia Corzo announced that applications for appointment to the Commission on Aging are being accepted. There is currently one (1) Member vacancy on the Commission. To be eligible, applicants must: Live in San Mateo County; At least 18 years of age, and available to attend day meetings in-person. The Commission is seeking individuals representing the County's diverse communities, gender identities, ethnicities, and experiences, with at least 60% of members to be 60 years and older or can demonstrate experience in addressing the needs of older adults. All interested parties are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will possess several of the following attributes: Demonstrate experience and interest in promoting programs for older adults; Knowledge of challenges, needs, and interests of older adults; Possesses interest in and willingness to act as the principle advocate for older adults including communities of color, non-English speakers, LGBTQ, immigrants, physically and mentally disabled individuals, and economically disadvantaged residents of San Mateo County; Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with other members of the Commission and Aging and Adult Services and to leverage community contacts to achieve Commission goals; Commitment to attend the monthly General Meeting, in addition to dedicating time to attend a specific sub-committee (s) of their choice that meets monthly. In-person attendance is required. This 17-member Commission advises the Board of Supervisors and San Mateo County Health Aging and Adult Services, develops and conducts programs in conformity with specific provisions of Older Americans Act of 1965 subject to approval of the Board of Supervisors.
