Notice to Senior Citizens and Disabled Regarding Parcel Tax Exemption Deadline: June 30, 2026 Parcel Tax funds allow Fremont Union High School District (FUHSD) to support strong academic programs in reading, writing, math, science, technology and engineering, prepare students for college and careers and retain high quality teachers and staff. The tax is assessed against each parcel of taxable land in the District. A parcel is defined as any unit of land in the District that receives a separate tax bill from the Santa Clara County Assessor's Office. Any property that would otherwise be exempt from property taxes will also be exempt from the qualified special tax. OPTIONAL exemptions are available for a senior citizen who owns and occupies as a principal residence, a parcel and applies to the District for exemption. For the 2026-2027 tax year, a senior citizen is defined as a person 65 years of age or older by June 30, 2027. Please apply for the exemption by June 30, 2026. For those who miss the deadline, a refund is available after the first payment is made on the 2026-2027 tax bill. Persons receiving Supplemental Security Income for a disability, regardless of age, may also apply for an exemption. Please provide benefits verification letter.
