Saticoy Country Club Water System Has Levels of Selenium Above the Drinking Water Standard IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT YOUR DRINKING WATER Saticoy Country Club Water System ? Elevated Selenium Levels Ventura Water has detected selenium in the Saticoy Country Club water system above the drinking water standard (average 52 ug/L; standard is 50 ug/L). This is not an emergency?you do not need to use an alternative water supply. Selenium is a natural element and essential nutrient. However, drinking water with selenium above the standard over many years may cause hair or fingernail loss, numbness in fingers or toes, or circulation problems. If you have health concerns, please consult your doctor. Ventura Water is working with the State Water Resources Control Board to correct the issue through treatment or blending and will continue to monitor the supply.
