REQUEST FOR INTEREST OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR THE LINDA FIRE
PROTECTION DISTRICT TO ADD TWO
ADDITIONAL POSITIONS
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the City Council ("City") of the City of Marysville of the County of Yuba, that the reorganization of the Linda Fire Protection District Board will occur effective July 1, 2026 per LAFCO order in pursuant of the Annexation of the City of Marysville Fire Department into the Linda Fire Protection District.
Pursuant to the provisions of Health and Safety Code Sections 13842 and 13849 and the Government Code Section 56886(n), the reorganized district shall be governed by a five member board of directors. In accordance with the Fire Protection District Law of 1987, the three (3) current district directors shall continue to serve. Two (2) additional directors shall be selected by the City Council to join the expanded five member Linda Fire Protection District Board of Directors, one with a two-year term and one with a four-year term. Following the initial term, both directors shall have four-year terms in accordance with Health and Safety Code Section 13843.
The District Board will fill the vacancy under the procedures of Government Code section 1780 by adopting individuals to the office.
Interested candidated should submit summaries of their qualifications to the attention of Marysville City Council by email to the City Clerk msanchez@marysville.ca.us or by mail to the City of Marysville/Board Vacancy, 526 C Street, Marysville, CA 95901 not later than 5:00 p.m. on April 30, 2026. Applicants must be residents of the City and capable of attending regular and special meetings of the Board, as well as Board Committee meetings.
The appointed individuals must, upon appointment, complete and file an Economic Interest Statement as required by law. Applicants will be considered and selected for appointment to office by the District Board on or before May 15, 2026.
District Board Members perform those functions which set policy and standards for the District's delivery of fire prevention, suppression and emergency medical services and those other services authorized by the Fire Protection District Act of 1987 (Health & Safety Code section 13800 et seq.).
