NOTICE OF VACANCY AND PROVISIONAL APPOINTMENT Notice of Vacancy on the Board of Alisal Union School District and Provisional Appointment of Board Member A vacancy occurred on the Governing Board of the Alisal Union School District by the passing of JOSE ANTONIO JIMENEZ on January 12, 2026. The information was filed with the office of the Monterey County Office of Education County Superintendent on January 12, 2026. JOSE ANTONIO JIMENEZ represented Trustee Area 5. On February 25, 2026, the Board of Education provisionally appointed JESUS VELASQUEZ to fill the vacant appointment, effective February 25, 2026. JESUS VELASQUEZ has taken the oath of office and provisionally assumed all of the duties of a member of the Board of Education as of that effective date. To challenge the provisional appointment, a petition calling for a special election, containing the valid signatures of at least 1.5 percent (1.5%) of registered voters in the Trustee Area 5 at the time of the last election or 25 registered voters of the Trustee Area 5, whichever is greater, must be filed in the office of the Superintendent of Schools, Monterey County Office of Education, 901 Blanco Circle, Salinas, CA 93901 within 30 days of the date of the provisional appointment (February 25, 2026).
