LEGAL NOTICE NOTICE OF ELECTION AND DATE FIXED FOR BALLOT ARGUMENTS FOR OR AGAINST MEASURE F WEED UNION ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT RESOLUTION ORDERING AN ELECTION TO AUTHORIZE THE ISSUANCE OF SCHOOL BONDS, ESTABLISHING SPECIFICATIONS OF THE ELECTION ORDER, AND REQUESTING CONSOLIDATION WITH ANY OTHER ELECTION OCCURRING ON JUNE 2, 2026. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN to the qualified electors of the Weed Union Elementary School District of Siskiyou County, California, that in accordance with the provisions of the Education Code of the State of California, an election will be held on June 2, 2026, within the District, at which election the following measure shall be submitted to the qualified electors of the District and voted upon: MEASURE F Science and School Safety Bond. With funds that cannot be taken by the State and spent elsewhere, shall Weed Union Elementary School District’s measure to repair, replace or rehabilitate Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEAM) classrooms; and upgrade aging fire alarms and emergency smoke filtration systems be adopted, authorizing $4.9 million of bonds with audits, legal rates, average annual levies below $29 per $100,000 of assessed valuation (generating $285,000 annually), strict taxpayer oversight, and full disclosure of all spending? Bonds - Yes Bonds – No The bonds shall bear interest at an annual rate not exceeding the statutory maximum. The maturity of the bonds shall not exceed the maximum term allowed by law at the time of issuance (currently 25 years if issued under Education Code section 15140, or 40 years if issued under Government Code section 53508, so long as the bonds are not capital appreciation bonds (“CABs,” which CABs are limited to 25 years)). Accordingly, as further set forth in the tax rate statement, the ad valorem tax will be levied at such rates and for so long as may be required to meet the debt service needs of the bonds proposed to be issued, including such bonds that may be issued to refund any approved bonds. All of the purposes enumerated in the foregoing measure shall be united and voted upon as one single measure, with precincts, places of holding the elections and officers appointed to conduct the elections to be the same as those provided for the statewide primary election to be held on June 2, 2026, under the Notice of Election published March 11, 2026. This election has been called pursuant to a Resolution of the Board of Trustees of the Weed Union Elementary School District, adopted on February 12, 2026. The Elections Official of the County of Siskiyou hereby gives formal notice of the election in accordance with the provisions of Education Code Section 15120. NOTICE is further given that based upon the time reasonably necessary to prepare and print the arguments and sample ballot booklets for said election, the County Clerk’s Office has fixed 4:00 p.m., March 16, 2026, as a reasonable date prior to the election after which no arguments for or against measure may be submitted for printing and distribution to voters. Arguments for and against this measure are limited to 300 words or less. All arguments must be submitted to the Siskiyou County Clerk’s Office, 311 Fourth Street, Room 201, Yreka, CA 96097, phone (530)842-8084. Arguments may be withdrawn or changed up to and including the time and date set forth as the deadline for filing. NOTICE is further given that specific requirements for sub-mitting arguments are provided in the Siskiyou County Guide for Submitting Arguments and Rebuttal for Local Measures booklet, which is available on the County Elections website at www.sisqvotes.org or from the Siskiyou County Clerk’s Office at the above-listed address. NOTICE is further given that if arguments are submitted both for and against the proposed measure, the authors may prepare and submit rebuttal arguments not to exceed 250 words. The County Clerk’s Office has fixed 4 p.m., March 27, 2026 as the deadline for submission of rebuttals if such is required. NOTICE is further given that the public examination period for analysis and arguments is March 28, 2026, through April 6, 2026.
