NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING FOR A SPECIAL EXCEPTION REQUEST HEARING NUMBER BOA 1998 YOU ARE HEREBY NOTIFIED that a PUBLIC HEARING will be held before the Highlands County Board of Adjustment on the 10th day of March 2026, beginning at 3:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as possible, in the County Commissioners Board Room, Highlands County Government Center Building, 600 South Commerce Avenue, Sebring, Florida, to consider a Special Exception to allow the existing building at 1600 Sunpure Rd, Avon Park, Florida, to be utilized for miscellaneous office uses, such as medical or dental office, business and professional offices, governmental and utilities offices, within the area described as follows: A portion of Section 4, Township 33 South, Range 28 East, Highlands County, Florida. Being more particularly described as follows: begin at the intersection of the northeasterly right of way line of US Highway 27 and the north right of way line of Central Avenue; thence run north 3849"30" west along the said northeasterly right of way line 196.85 feet to the east right of way line of a 60 foot road; thence north 0027"00" west, along said east right of way line 450.00 feet; thence south 3708'20" east, 756.85 feet to a point of the said north right of way line of Central Avenue; thence north 9000'00" west, along said north right of way line, 330.00 feet to the point of beginning. Any person or persons interested or affected by this change are invited to attend this hearing. You may submit comments in writing to the attention of Melony Culpepper, Planning and Zoning Supervisor, 501 South Commerce Avenue, Sebring, Florida 33870, or you may call (863) 402-6638, for further information. ALL INTERESTED PERSONS ARE INVITED TO ATTEND. All interested persons may appear and be heard at the time and place specified above. Any person who might wish to appeal any decision made by this committee/group, in public hearing or meeting is hereby advised that he or she will need a record of the proceedings, and that, for such purpose, he or she may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record will include the testimony and evidence upon which such appeal is to be based. The Board of Adjustment and the Board of County Commissioners of Highlands County, Florida, do not discriminate upon the basis of any individuals disability status. This non-discriminatory policy involves every aspect of the Boards functions, including ones access to, participation, employment or treatment in its programs or activities.
