NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER
AN AMENDMENT TO THE OKEECHOBEE
COUNTY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
OKEECHOBEE COUNTY gives notice that it shall hold a public hearing before the Okeechobee County Board of County Commissioners on Thursday, April 23, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. in the Judge William L. Hendry Courtroom, Room 270, Historic Okee- chobee County Courthouse, 304 NW 2nd Street, Okeechobee, Florida. The purpose of the public hearing is to consider an amendment to the Comprehensive Plan of Okeechobee County, Florida and to consider authorizing transmittal of the amendment to the Florida Department of Commerce and other reviewing agencies.
The amendment will affect the Future Land Use Maps, Future Land Use Element, Future Traffic Circulation Maps, Future Traffic Circulation Element, and other elements and components of the Okeechobee County Comprehensive Plan.
A copy of the proposed amendment shall be available for inspection by the public during normal business hours at the Okeechobee County Community Development Department, 1700 NW 9th Avenue, Okeechobee, Florida, 34972. Interested parties may appear at the meeting and be heard with respect to the proposed amendment, and may submit written comments to the Community Development Department prior to the hearing.
Any person deciding to appeal any decision by the Board of County Commissioners with respect to any matter considered at this meeting or hearing will need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made and that the record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal will be based. County Clerk tapes are for the sole purpose of backup for official records of the department.
