NOTICE OF CANCELLATION OF PUBLIC HEARING APPLICATION NOS. 24-SP-19, 24-CU-04, & 25-GZW-01 Notice is hereby given that the CITY COMMISSION Public Hearing scheduled for Monday, May 18, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. in the Commission Chambers, City Hall, 1565 First Street, Sarasota, Florida regarding Applications Nos. 24-SP-19, 24-CU-04, & 25-GZW-01 has been CANCELLED. The following Applications will be considered at a future scheduled meeting, date to be determined: SITE PLAN, MAJOR CONDITIONAL USE, AND G-ZONE WAIVER APPLICATION NOS. 24-SP-19, 24-CU-04 & 25-GZW-01 REQUEST FOR APPROVAL OF SITE PLAN AND MAJOR CONDITIONAL USE APPROVAL TO CONSTRUCT A NEW TWO-STORY, APPROXIMATELY 4,230-SQUARE FOOT BUILDING FOR THE SARASOTA YOUTH SAILING PROGRAM (SYS) ON A PORTION OF THE LEASED 9.3-ACRE PROPERTY WITH A STREET ADDRESS OF 1717 KEN THOMPSON PARKWAY. APPLICANT IS SEEKING A G ZONE WAIVER FOR THE REGULATION OF SECTION VII-203 (6) REQUIRING ALL OFF-STREET PARKING AREAS TO BE SURFACED WITH ASPHALT, BITUMINOUS OR CONCRETE MATERIAL, CLAY BRICK OR CONCRETE PAVING UNITS, OR PERMEABLE PAVEMENT SURFACES TO ALLOW AN UNIMPROVED PARKING SURFACE, AS CURRENTLY EXISTING. THE SITE IS ZONED GOVERNMENTAL (G) WITH A FUTURE LAND USE CLASSIFICATION OF COMMUNITY OFFICE/INSTITUTIONAL. ACCESS IS PROPOSED TO REMAIN FROM KEN THOMPSON PARKWAY, AS MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED IN SAID APPLICATIONS Said applications are on file in the Department of Development Services and the Office of the City Auditor and Clerk at City Hall. If you wish to obtain a copy, please call (941) 263-6222 between 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Interested persons are welcome to attend and may register to speak in respect to the above-proposed development applications. Individuals who prefer to participate remotely in the City Commission meeting may obtain instructions to participate via zoom by emailing clerk@sarasotafl.gov with your request. Individuals may provide written comments for agenda items which allow citizens input up until 72 hours prior to the start of the meeting by utilizing the eComments link next to the published agenda on the Upcoming Events webpage accessible through the City of Sarasota website by clicking on Meetings/Agendas/Video from the main page. Persons granted status as an Affected Person by the City Commission will additionally be allowed to present the sworn testimony of other witnesses, relevant exhibits and other documentary evidence and to cross-examine witnesses. In order to qualify as an Affected Person, a person who may be adversely affected by the action of the City Commission must file a Request for Affected Person Status form with the Office of the City Auditor and Clerk at least five (5) complete working days prior to the quasi-judicial hearing. The Request for Affected Person Status form is available at the Office of the City Auditor and Clerk, 1565 First Street, Sarasota, Florida, telephone number (941) 263-6222. Persons who request this status will be contacted by the City Auditor and Clerks office regarding options to participate in the hearing either in person or remotely via zoom. If a person decides to appeal any decision made by the board, agency, or commission with respect to any matter considered at such meeting or hearing, he or she will need a record of the proceedings, and, for such purpose, he or she may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based. In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and Section 286.26, Florida Statutes, persons with disabilities needing special accommodation to participate in such public hearing should contact the Office of the City Auditor and Clerk at (941) 263-6222 at least two (2) business days prior to the date of the public hearing as to the nature of the aid and/or service desired. Reasonable auxiliary aids and services will be made available to qualified disabled individuals to the extent that no undue financial or administrative burden results. For the benefit of individuals utilizing hearing aids with a T-coil, the City Commission Chambers and SRQ Media Studio are outfitted with a Hearing Induction Loop for enhanced hearing assistance.
