NOTICE OF PROPOSED ENACTMENT OF ORDINANCE The City of Plant City, Florida proposes to adopt the following ordinance: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PLANT CITY, FLORIDA, DELETING SECTION 22-32, PLANT CITY CODE, REGARDING THE CEMETERY PERPETUAL CARE FUND; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. The City Commission will hold a public hearing on the proposed ordinance in the City Commission Chambers of the Nettie Berry Draughon Municipal Building, 302 West Reynolds Street (City Hall), Plant City, Florida, on February 23, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, at which time interested parties and members of the public may appear to be heard with respect to the proposed ordinance. At the conclusion of the public hearing, the ordinance will be considered for approval by the City Commission. If anyone is planning on presenting a PowerPoint (or other similar) presentation to the City Commission, the person is responsible for coordinating with the City Clerk in advance. At least 48 hours is recommended. Under no circumstances shall the City allow a presentation from any media source (including flash drive and disc) to be presented from a City computer without the City staff having a reasonable opportunity to virus check the presentation. At the public hearing, all speakers shall be limited to three (3) minutes, unless the speaker requests the City Clerk for additional time no less than forty-eight (48) hours prior to said public hearing. In the event speaker(s) request additional time the determination of the amount of time to be allowed shall be at the discretion of the Mayor, but no speaker shall generally be allowed more than fifteen (15) minutes. All persons are advised that if a person decides to appeal any decision made by the City Commission with respect to any matter considered at such meeting or hearing, he or she will need a record of the proceedings, and that, for such purpose, he or she may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based. In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, any person with a disability requiring reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this meeting should call the City Clerk at (813) 659-4200 at least 48 hours prior to the public hearing.
