PUBLIC NOTICE City of Barnwell County of Barnwell JS Atkinson Farm, 731 Old Allendale Hwy, Barnwell, SC 29812 has applied to the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services for a Groundwater Withdrawal Permit, under the Groundwater Use and Reporting Act for one (1) proposed agricultural irrigation well(s) located at approximately N 33.223500094532874, W -81.34999447486877 in Barnwell County, SC. A proposed maximum groundwater withdrawal limit of 36 million gallons per year from the Gordon aquifer has been developed from calculated water use requirements for one (1) agricultural irrigation well(s) on approximately 35.2 acres. Additional information concerning this application may be obtained from Steven Martin by calling (803) 898-3563 or e-mail at Steven.Martin@des.sc.gov. SCDES invites and will receive comments on the application until June 5, 2026, close of business day, 5:00pm EST.
