SENIOR CITIZEN EXEMPTIONS REMINDER All Whiteside County residents who turn 65 years of age during the calendar year of 2026 are eligible for the Senior Citizen Homestead Exemption, regardless of income and are reminded to apply for this exemption on or after their 65th birthday within the calendar year. You are eligible if you owned your home and occupied it as of January 1, 2026. ***If you turned 65 years of age during the calendar year of 2025 please contact the Supervisor of Assessments office before March 1st, so the exemption can be applied to your 2025 pay 2026 real estate taxes. Also all Whiteside County residents who turn 65 years of age during the calendar year of 2026, whose total household income was $75,000.00 or less in 2025, and who owned and occupied their home on January 1 of 2026, may also be eligible for the Senior Citizen Assessment Freeze Homestead Exemption and are reminded to apply for this exemption. *THE SENIOR CITIZEN ASSESSMENT FREEZE HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION MUST BE APPLIED FOR EACH YEAR. AN APPLICATION MUST BE FILED PRIOR TO JULY 1, 2026 TO RECEIVE THIS EXEMPTION FOR THE 2026 TAXABLE YEAR, REAL ESTATE TAXES PAID IN 2027. Applications have been mailed to senior citizens receiving the senior citizen homestead exemption on their 2025 payable 2026 real estate taxes. *IF YOU ARE 65 YEARS OR OLDER AND HAVE NOT RECEIVED AN APPLICATION IN THE MAIL YOU SHOULD CONTACT THE SUPERVISOR OF ASSESSMENTS OFFICE AT THE COURTHOUSE IN MORRISON, ILLINOIS AND YOU CAN HAVE A FORM MAILED TO YOU OR YOU CAN PICK UP A SENIOR CITIZEN ASSESSMENT FREEZE APPLICATION. *IF YOU CELEBRATE YOUR 65TH BIRTHDAY DURING CALENDAR YEAR 2026 YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE AN APPLICATION IN THE MAIL.
