NOTICE OF THE GREATER ROUND LAKE FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT BOARD OF FIRE COMMISSION APPLICATION PROCESS FOR FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC The Board of Fire Commissioners for the Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District will conduct examinations for qualified persons to establish an eligibility list from which firefighter/paramedic vacancies will be filled. Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements: Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of hire, or meet the minimum age requirements as set by statute, and have not reached their 35th birthday as of the date of the written examination or meet certain exemptions as set by statute. Must possess a high school diploma or an equivalent high school education. Must possess a valid drivers' license. Must possess proof of successful completion of the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) with ladder certification within one year prior to the written exam. Must be licensed by the Illinois Department of Public Health as an EMT-Paramedic or be currently enrolled in the Condell EMS System paramedic training program. Must be certified by the Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal to the level of Basic Operations Firefighter. Applicants will be required to attend a mandatory orientation session and written test to be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Round Lake Fire Station 1, 409 W. Nippersink Rd., Round Lake, IL. Applications can be picked up in person at Round Lake Fire Station 1 during normal business hours or are available online at www.rlfire.org. Applications must be returned in person to Round Lake Fire Station 1, 409 W. Nippersink Rd, Round Lake, IL, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday.
