Minutes of Monthly Council Meeting
April 27, 2026
Mayor Laryl Koerselman called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.
Council members present were Stacie Damstra, Wanda Brands, Robin Jungers, and Bob Koerselman. Nathan Alexander was absent.
The others present was a city employee Tami Kamies, and Leo & Brenda Rodriguez-Anzua
The council had a conversation with Leo & Brenda regarding a previous building permit that was approved. Council approved the building permit in error. The permit did not meet the Boyden Code of Ordinances and council told Leo & Brenda they would not be allowed to build until they were able to meet the citys code. B. Koerselman made a motion that the city would pay to have their lot surveyed. Damstra seconded the motion. Motion carried 4-0.
Jungers made a motion to approve the building permit for Leo Rodriguez-Anzua for the lean-to over the back patio. Brands seconded the motion. Motion carried 4-0.
B. Koerselman made a motion to approve the building permit for Brandon Krukow fire pit shelter. Brands seconded the motion. Motion carried 4-0.
A discussion was had regarding a BRIC grant that is being applied for regarding a detention basin. The city will be holding off for this round of the grant application and instead apply for a Project Scoping Grant to help with engineering fees during the design faze of the project. They will look at reapplying for the BRIC grant again next spring when we are equipped with more information that is needed to be able to apply.
With no further business Jungers made a motion to adjourn the meeting. B. Koerselman supported. Motion carried 4-0. Meeting was adjourned at 6:28 pm
