Public hearing for a new confinement feeding operation in Pocahontas County.

The Pocahontas County Board of Supervisors, has received a construction permit application for a confinement feeding operation, more specifically described as follows:
Name of Applicant:  Dean Duitscher inter Vivo Trust and Melvene Duitscher inter Vivo Trust
Location of the proposed construction:  Section 04 of Garfield Township.
Type of confinement feeding operation structure* proposed:
Two new freestall confinement barns, new parlor and holding area, sand land and sand stacking pad and two new earthen manure storage basins as an expansion to an existing dairy confinement facility.
Animal Unit Capacity of the Confinement Operation after Construction:  4688 animal units (3270 head of mature dairy cattle, 80 head of dairy heifers and 30 head of dairy calves).
Examination:  The application is on file at the County Auditor's Office and is available for public inspection during the following days:  Monday-Friday and hours: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Comments:  Written comment may be filed at the County Auditor's Office, until the following deadline: May 18, 2026.
*A confinement feeding operating structure = a confinement with a below the floor concrete pit; confinement building with an earthen basin or anaerobic lagoon; aboveground steel tank, etc. (see definition in footnote 1, page 1 of this application form).
