The districts self-funded health plan is experiencing higher-than-projected claims, resulting in the need for another premium increase this year. While the district has strategically utilized reserve funds in recent years to help offset costs, continued claims exceeding expectations have significantly reduced those reserves. As a result, the district no longer has the capacity to rely on reserves at the same level moving forward. The district is actively exploring all available options to establish a path toward long-term sustainability while prioritizing minimal disruption to employee care and access to services. If no action is taken and the current trend continues, the plan may reach a point where the district would need to transition to a fully insured model. This would likely result in significantly higher premiums for comparable coverage and could ultimately require reductions in overall benefits in order to maintain a plan at a cost similar to current levels. True North provided an overview of the plan and renewal. It was motioned to switch to a Third Party Administrator Model (TPA). Consociates Health will be the TPA starting July 1, 2026 and will purchase the Cigna Network and hire MedOne as the Pharmacy Benefit Manager. Furthermore, premiums for single will be set at $770/month (increased from $712) and family premiums will be set at $1925/month (previously $1780).
