NOTICE OF SCHOOL BOARD VACANCY AND OPPORTUNITY FOR APPOINTMENT PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that a vacancy exists on the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Board of Education due to the resignation of Evan Murray effective April 30, 2026. In accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:12-15, the remaining members of the Board of Education are seeking a qualified resident of Scotch Plains, NJ to be appointed to fill this vacancy. The appointed individual will serve until the organizational meeting following the next annual school election in November 2026. Qualifications for School Board Membership: To be eligible for appointment, an individual must be a citizen of the United States, a resident of Scotch Plains, NJ for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment, be able to read and write, be registered to vote in the district, not be disqualified from serving as a school board member by reason of conviction of certain crimes, and meet other requirements as set forth in N.J.S.A. 18A:12-1 and other applicable laws.
