NEW YORK STATE CANAL CORPORATION NOTICE OF PROPOSED ABANDONMENT (SALE OF REAL PROPERTY) OF A permanent easement for access over a portion of Canal Land situated in the City of North Tonawanda, County of Niagara, State of New York TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: PLEASE TAKE NOTICE, that pursuant to the provisions of Section 51 of the Canal Law; the New York State Canal Corporation; a subsidiary of the Power Authority of the State of New York; invites interested parties to file written statements either supporting or opposing the proposed abandonment. Any interested party may file their statement with the New York State Canal Corporation; 30 South Pearl Street; Albany, NY 12207; to the attention of Jessica Foote. Statements will be accepted until the close of business day on May 5, 2026. The permanent easement proposed to be abandoned for canal purposes is a portion of Canal Land in the City of North Tonawanda, Niagara County are three non-contiguous, irregularly shaped parcels, totaling approximately 2.127-acres; (1) located on the east side Sweeney Street, south of the Nor-Ton Red Jacket Club; (2) located south and west of the Mayor's Park entrance; and (3) located on the east side of Sweeney Street at the Botanical Gardens. The Property will be used to construct and maintain a bike path/multi-use trail to connect the existing paths that currently run from Mayor's Park to Gateway Park along Sweeney Street. The property is a portion of land shown as Niagara County Tax Map Parcel Number 185.12-2-64 and 183.13-1-81.1, and more specifically shown on Abandonment Map No. 1018 on file at the New York State Canal Corporation, 30 South Pearl Street, Albany, New York 12207.
