LEGAL NOTICE CITY OF BINGHAMTON NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Binghamton is proposing the renaming of Emerson Parkway to West Street. You may address any concerns you have about the proposed change to the City Clerk’s Office at 38 Hawley Street, Binghamton, NY 13901, or via email at sarah.a.dinhofer@ cityofbinghamton.gov. AN ORDINANCE TO RENAME EMERSON PARKWAY TO WEST STREET TO AID 911 EMERGENCY RESPONSES WHEREAS, confusion and delay is created due the City of Binghamton Street currently known as Emerson Parkway due to the street names changing from West Street to Emerson Parkway to Field Street over a short distance; and WHEREAS, this confusion could result in individuals not getting the emergency help that they need; and WHEREAS, the property owners with parcels abutting Emerson Parkway have expressed support for changing the name of Emerson Parkway; and WHEREAS, the City of Binghamton wishes to rename Emerson Parkway) to West Street to aid 911 emergency response calls. NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Binghamton, duly convened in regular session, does hereby ordain: Section 1. That Emerson Parkway will be renamed to West Street. Section 2 That a copy of this Ordinance along with the address changes shall be sent to the United States Post Office , such changes shall also be effected in the City of Binghamton assessor's office and the City Clerk and Mayor, in coordination with the appropriate City departments, is authorized to take all other necessary actions to implement this renaming, including updating official records, maps, and signage.
