LEGAL NOTICE NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that a Public Hearing on the proposed 2026-2027 Budget for the Bolton Central School District, 26 Horicon Avenue, Bolton Landing, New York shall be held in the Library of the District on May 11, 2026, at 6:30 PM. The Budget will be available for review at the District Office, Monday, May 4, 2026 between the hours of 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, weekdays, during the fourteen (14) days preceding the date of the election and the day of the election. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the Annual meeting of qualified voters of the Bolton Central School District will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, between the hours of 12:00 PM and 8:00 PM in the Gym Lobby, Bolton Central School, Bolton Landing, New York, 12814, at which time the polls will be opened to vote by machine ballot. AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a copy of the statement of the amount which will be required for the ensuing year for school purposes for the 2026-2027 school year, exclusive of public moneys, may be obtained by any resident in the district during business hours beginning on May 4, 2026, at the Superintendent's Office of Bolton Central School, during the hours of 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that petitions nominating candidates for the office of Member of the Board of Education must be filed with the Clerk of the District no later than April 20, 2026. The following vacancies are to be filled on the Board of Education: One three (3) year term commencing July 1, 2026 and expiring June 30, 2029, currently held by Mr. Timothy Daken, whose term expires June 30, 2026. One three (3) year extended term to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Mr. Jesse Foy, whose term was to expire on June 30, 2026, commencing on May 20, 2026 or as soon thereafter as the candidate may be sworn in and expiring June 30, 2029. The method of election of Board members will be by Popular Vote, with the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes being elected. Each petition must be directed to the Clerk of the District, must be signed by at least 25 qualified voters of the district or two percent (2%) of the voters in the previous annual election of the district, whichever shall be greater; must state the name and residence of the signer; and must state the name and residence of the candidate. AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that pursuant to a rule adopted by the Board of Education in accordance with §2035 and §2008 of the Education law, any referenda or propositions to amend the budget, or otherwise to be submitted for voting at said election, must be filed with the Board of Education at the District Offices, Bolton Landing, New York on or before April 20, 2026, at 5:00 PM; must be typed or printed in the English language; must be directed to the Clerk of the School District; must be signed by 25 qualified voters or five percent (5%) of the number of qualified voters who voted in the pervious annual election, whichever shall be greater; and must state the name and residence of each signer. However, the School Board will not entertain any petition to place before the power of the voters any proposition the purpose of which is not within the powers of the voters to determine, or any proposition which fails to include a specific appropriation where the expenditures of monies is required by the proposition. AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the qualified voters of the School District shall be entitled to vote at said annual vote and election. A qualified voter is one who is (1) a citizen of the United States of America (2) eighteen years of age or older, (3) a resident within the School District for a period of thirty (30) days preceding the annual vote and election, and (4) registered with the Warren County Board of Elections. Residents wishing to register may do so until Monday, May 4, 2026 at the office of the District Clerk in the Main Office of Bolton Central School between the hours of 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM. The School District may require all persons offering to vote at the budget vote and election to provide one form of proof of residency pursuant to Education Law 2018-c. Such forms may include a driver's license, a non-driver identification card, a utility bill, or a voter registration card. Upon offer of proof of residency, the School District will also require all persons offering to vote to provide their signature, printed name and address. FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that personal registration of voters is required. If a voter has heretofore registered pursuant to §2606 of the Education Law and has voted at an annual or special district meeting within the last four (4) calendar years, he/she is eligible to vote at this election; if a voter is registered and eligible to vote under Article 5 of the Election Law, he/she is also eligible to vote at this election. The register so prepared will be filed in the Office of the Clerk of the School District and will be open for inspection to any qualified voter of the district on each of the five (5) days prior to the day of the election, excluding weekends, between the hours of 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and at the polling place on the day of the election. FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that applications for early mail and absentee ballots will be obtainable between the hours of 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, except holidays from the District Clerk, as well as on the school’s website at www.boltoncsd.org. Completed applications must be received by the District Clerk at least seven (7) days before the election if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election by 3:00 pm, if the ballot is to be picked up by the voter or designee. Early mail ballot applications will not be accepted earlier than thirty (30) days before the election. Early mail and absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk no later than 5:00 PM on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. A list of persons to whom early mail and absentee ballots are issued will be available for inspection to qualified voters of the district on each of the five (5) days prior to the day of the election, except weekends, up to the day of the election, between the hours of 8:00 am and 3:00 pm. Said list will also be available for review at the polling place at the election on the day of the election. Any qualified voter, upon examination of such list, may file a written challenge to the qualifications of a voter stating appropriate grounds for making his/her challenge. Such written challenge will be transmitted by the Clerk to the inspectors of the election on election day. The Education Law makes special provision for absentee voting by “permanently disabled” voters of the district and any questions regarding these rights should be directed to the Clerk of Board. NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that military voters who are qualified voters of the School District may apply for a military ballot by requesting an application from the District Clerk at 518-644-2400 or cdunalewicz@boltoncsd.org. For a military voter to be issued a military ballot, the District Clerk must have received a valid ballot application no later than 5:00 pm on April 24, 2026. In a request for a military ballot application or ballot, the military voter may indicate their preference for receiving the application or ballot by mail, facsimile transmission, electronic mail, or in-person. The Clerk shall transmit the military voter’s military ballot in accordance with the military voter’s preferred method of transmission not later than 25 days before the day of the election, April 24, 2026. The Clerk must then receive the military voter’s military ballot not later than 5:00 pm on the day of the election. The election of the members of the Board of Education will take place on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 between the hours of 12:00 PM and 8:00 PM in the Gym Lobby, Bolton Central School, Bolton Landing, New York, 12814, pursuant to Section 2013 of the New York State Education Law.
