The Northport Power Station consists of three emission units: four (4) 385 MWe turbine/generator boiler sets (operating on natural gas, No. 1, 2, or 6 fuel oils), a 15 MWe black start combustion turbine and a 430-horsepower diesel startup engine, the latter two running on No. 1 or No. 2 distillate oil. Fuel storage includes 5 main tanks for storing No. 6 oil and various smaller tanks for distillate, lubrication, and dielectric oils. The power station uses an electrostatic precipitator for emission control, which is not operated when firing natural gas. Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMS) are in place to monitor the NOx emissions from the four turbine/generator boiler sets and to maintain compliance with the EPA Haze Rule. Northport Power Station has opted to continue to meet compliance with the requirements of 6NYCRR Part 227-2 on a system wide basis using NOx RACT Compliance Plan. This renewal does not include changes to the facility equipment or processes and does not authorize an increase in emissions. Pursuant to the requirements of section 7(2) of the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA), the Department has requested and received information regarding the project's consistency with CLCPA.
