LEGAL NOTICE NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING NORTH TONAWANDA CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT NORTH TONAWANDA CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT PUBLIC LIBRARY NORTH TONAWANDA NIAGARA COUNTY NEW YORK ON BEHALF OF THE NORTH TONAWANDA PUBLIC LIBRARY the Board of Trustees of the North Tonawanda Public Library, North Tonawanda, New York HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that a special district meeting of the qualified voters residing in the North Tonawanda City School District of the City of North Tonawanda, Niagara County, New York will be held at the North Tonawanda Public Library, 505 Meadow Drive, North Tonawanda, New York, in said School District on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at 9:00 AM, prevailing time, for the purpose of voting by ballot upon the annual appropriation of the necessary funds to meet necessary expenditures for the fiscal year from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027 and the tax levy necessary to meet these expenditures of the North Tonawanda Public Library. Polls for the purpose of voting will be kept open to qualified voters residing in the North Tonawanda City School District between the hours of 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM, prevailing time, and as much longer as may be necessary for the voters then present to cast their ballots. PROPOSITION: To adopt the Annual Library District budget of North Tonawanda Public Library for the fiscal year 2026/2027 and to authorize the requisite portion thereof to be raised by taxation, on the taxable property of the North Tonawanda City School District; and, To elect one (1) Trustee of North Tonawanda Public Library to fill (1) five-year term commencing July 1, 2026 and ending June 30, 2031 as a result of the expiration of the term of Office presently held by Susan Grimm, NOTICE is also given that a copy of the statement of the amount of money which will be required for the ensuing year for library purposes may be obtained by any taxpayer in the North Tonawanda City School District during the fourteen (14) days immediately preceding the special meeting, except Sundays or holidays, at the Library between the hours of 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM Monday through Thursday and 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM Friday and Saturday, prevailing time; and, NOTICE is also given that a public information meeting will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026 at 5:00 PM prevailing time, at the North Tonawanda Public Library, 505 Meadow Drive, North Tonawanda, Niagara County, New York for transaction of such business as is authorized by the Education Law; and, FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that petitions nominating candidates for the office of Trustee of North Tonawanda Public Library shall be filed in the Office of the Clerk of the North Tonawanda Public Library, 505 Meadow Drive, North Tonawanda, Niagara County, New York, not later than Monday, March 16, 2026, which petitions shall be filed between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Vacancies on the Library Board are not considered separate, specific offices, and the nominating petitions, therefore, shall not describe any specific vacancies upon the Library Board for which the candidate is nominated. Each petition must be directed to the Clerk of the North Tonawanda Public Library and must state the residence of each signer, and the name and residence of the candidates; and, NOTICE IS ALSO HEREBY GIVEN, that voting will be by paper ballot and by absentee ballot, that absentee ballots shall be made available in accordance with the provisions of Section 2018 of the Education Law; and, Application for absentee ballot may be obtained at the North Tonawanda Public Library, 505 Meadow Drive, North Tonawanda, New York during regular library business hours. Such application, duly completed, must be received by the Library Director at least ten (10) days before the date of the vote if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or by the day before such vote, if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter at time of application. No absentee voter's ballot shall be canvassed, unless it shall have been received in the office of the Library Director not later than 5:00 PM prevailing time on the day of the election. A list of all persons to whom absentee ballots shall have been issued will be available for inspection in the said office of the Library Director between the hours of 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM, prevailing time, Monday through Friday, up to and including the day set for the vote, and such list will also be posted at the polling place for the vote on the proposition.
