TOWN OF SCRIBA PUBLIC NOTICE NOTICE OF REFERENDUM BY PETITION REGARDING RESOLUTION APPROVING THE SALE OF TOWN-OWNED REAL PROPERTY PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that on March 18, 2026, the Town Board of the Town of Scriba adopted Resolution #2026-55, authorizing the sale of certain real property owned by the Town located at 5251 State Route 104, Scriba (the “Resolution”) for $100,000. Pursuant to Article 7 of the New York Town Law, specifically Town Law §§ 90–91, the Resolution is subject to a permissive referendum and shall not take effect for thirty (30) days after its adoption, and shall not take effect at all if a valid petition requesting that the matter be submitted to the qualified electors of the Town is filed with the Town Clerk within the required statutory period. A petition seeking a referendum must: (1) be filed with the Town Clerk within thirty (30) days after the Board’s adoption of the Resolution; (2) be signed by a number of qualified electors of the Town equal to at least five percent (5%) of the total votes cast for governor in the Town at the last general election; and (3) include signatures that are acknowledged, proved, or otherwise authenticated as required by Town Law § 91 and the Election Law. If a valid petition is timely filed the proposition requesting approval or disapproval of the Resolution shall be submitted either at the next biennial town election or at a special election, depending on the petition filing date, in accordance with Town Law § 91. If no valid petition is filed within the statutory thirty day period, the Resolution shall take effect without further action.
