NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC CITY OF ROME, NEW YORK COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PUBLIC MEETING Tuesday, March 10, 2026 Rome City Hall – Community Room 198 North Washington Street, Rome 12:00 p.m. The City of Rome is in the process of drafting the 2026 CDBG Annual Action Plan. The Annual Action Plan will serve as a road map which will describe the community’s priorities and goals based on an assessment of housing and community development needs. The City is looking forward to the community’s ideas and input regarding the Annual Action Plan, and encourages comments, and activity suggestions which will help form the overall structure of the plan. According to US Housing and Urban Development (HUD) guidelines, the City must give maximum feasible priority to activities which benefit low to moderate income persons. The City may carry out activities which aid in the prevention or elimination of slums or blight. Finally, the City may fund community development needs having a particular urgency because existing conditions pose a serious and immediate threat to the health or welfare of the community where other financial resources are not available to meet such needs. Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds may not be used for activities which do not meet these broad national objectives. The City of Rome is seeking the active participation of citizens and all private sector agencies. In order to obtain citizen views, comments or suggestions concerning the 2026 Annual Action Plan, the City will hold a public meeting as shown above. Those persons and/or organizations unable to attend the public meeting but wish to comment should send all comments to the Community Development Specialist, Caitlin Matwijec-Walda at cmatwijec-walda@romeny.gov or by mail to 198 North Washington Street, Rome, NY 13440. All comments received will be read into the public record during the meeting. Technical assistance will be provided upon request to groups representing low to moderate income people. The City will provide, upon request, non-English speaking residents with an interpreter and offer to provide any information or assistance necessary so that all persons can participate in the Consolidated Plan process.
