LEGAL NOTICE Public Meeting – Budget Hearing/Annual Election and Vote West Genesee Central School District NOTICE is hereby given that the Board of Education of the West Genesee Central School District will hold a public budget hearing on May 6, 2026 at 6:00 P.M., at the West Genesee High School Library at 5201 West Genesee Street, Camillus, NY 13031, for the purpose of discussing the proposed expenditure of funds for the 2026-2027 school year and the budgeting thereof. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the annual meeting and election of members of the Board of Education of the West Genesee Central School District, and the vote for the appropriation of necessary funds to meet the estimated expenditures for the fiscal year commencing July 1, 2026 and authorizing the levy of taxes, and the vote regarding any other propositions properly submitted will be held at the West Genesee High School Auditorium lobby on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 between the hours of 6:00 A.M. and 9:00 P.M., by machine ballot unless machines are unavailable, in which case paper ballots will be used. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that a copy of the proposed budget for the ensuing year for school purposes and the exemption report may be obtained by any District resident during the fourteen (14) days before the annual meeting, except Saturday, Sunday or a holiday, during the hours of 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. at each of the following schoolhouses: Camillus Middle School, East Hill Elementary School, Onondaga Road Elementary School, Split Rock Elementary School, Stonehedge Elementary School, West Genesee Intermediate School, and West Genesee High School. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that petitions nominating candidates for the office of member of the Board of Education must be filed in the District Clerk’s office between 9:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. no later than April 20, 2026. Each petition must be directed to the District Clerk, must be signed by at least 25 qualified voters of the District, must state the residence of each signer, and must state the candidate’s name and residence. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that 3 vacancies on the Board of Education are to be filled for the expiring terms of Kathryne A. Moulton, Jeffrey M. Reina, and Barbara A. Wells each for a 3-year term commencing July 1, 2026 and concluding June 30, 2029. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that qualified voters of the District may obtain applications for an absentee ballot from the office of the District Clerk. Completed applications must be received by the Clerk of the District no later than 4:00 P.M. on May 18, 2026, and must be received no later than 4:00 P.M. on May 12, 2026 if the absentee ballot is to be mailed to the voter. Completed applications received after 4:00 P.M. on May 12, 2026 will require the voter to personally appear at the office of the District Clerk to receive an absentee ballot. A listing of all persons to whom an absentee ballot is issued will be available for inspection in the office of the District Clerk between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. during each of the 5 days prior to the election, except Sundays, and shall also be posted at the polling place at the election. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that early mail ballots may be applied for at the office of the District Clerk. A list of all persons to whom early mail ballots shall have been issued will be available in the office of the District Clerk on each of the five days prior to the day of the vote except Sundays, and such list will also be posted at the polling place or places for the vote. Completed applications for military ballots must be received by the Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 24, 2026. In a request for a military ballot application or ballot, the military voter may indicate their preference for receiving the application or ballot by mail, facsimile transmission or e-mail. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that at said annual meeting and election held on May 19, 2026, the following propositions will be submitted to voters: 1. PROPOSITION I (TRANSPORTATION PROPOSITION): Shall the Board of Education of the West Genesee Central School District be authorized to purchase and finance ten (10) diesel school buses, one (1) dump truck and one (1) stake rack truck , including necessary furnishings, fixtures and equipment and all other costs incidental thereto, and expend a total sum not to exceed $2,004,000, which is estimated to be the total maximum cost thereof, and said amount, or so much thereof as may be necessary, shall be raised by the levy of a tax upon the taxable property of said School District to be collected in annual installments as provided by Section 416 of the Education Law; and, in anticipation of such tax, obligations of said School District, in the principal amount not to exceed $2,004,000, shall be issued? 2. PROPOSITION II (Fairmount Community Library) : Shall the West Genesee Central School District levy and collect a tax, pursuant to Section 259 of the Education Law of the State of New York, in the sum of $431,507(which is an increase of $16,596 from 2025 in the sum of $414,911) for the continuing support and maintenance of the free library services offered to district residents by Fairmount Community Library historically supported by the West Genesee Central School District? 3. PROPOSITION III (Maxwell Memorial Library) : Shall the West Genesee Central School District levy and collect a tax, pursuant to Section 259 of the Education Law of the State of New York, in the sum of $430,109 (which is an increase of $17,534 from 2025-2026 in the sum of $412,575) for the continuing support and maintenance of the free library services offered to district residents by Maxwell Memorial Library historically supported by the West Genesee Central School District? 4. PROPOSITION IV (Onondaga Free Library) : Shall the West Genesee Central School District levy and collect a tax, pursuant to Section 259 of the Education Law of the State of New York, in the sum of $118,072 (which is an increase of $3,439 from the levy in effect from 2025-2026 in the sum of $114,633) for the continuing support and maintenance of the free library services offered to district residents by the Onondaga Free Library historically supported by the West Genesee Central School District?
