ERIE COUNTY NOTICE OF MEETING Notice of Annual Meeting, Budget Vote and Election of School Board Members East Aurora Union Free School District Towns of Aurora, Elma, Colden and Wales NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Annual Meeting, Budget Vote and Election of School Board Members (the “Annual Meeting”) of the residents of the East Aurora Union Free School District, Towns of Aurora, Elma, Colden and Wales, Erie County, New York (the “District”), who are qualified to vote in the District, will be held in the East Aurora Middle School Cafeteria, 430 Main Street, East Aurora, New York, on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., for the purposes of voting, by electronic scan voting machine(s), on (i) the appropriation of the necessary funds to meet the District’s estimated expenditures for the fiscal year commencing July 1, 2026 and ending June 30, 2027; (ii) a proposition relating to an expenditure from the Technology Reserve Fund; (iii) the election of three (3) members of the Board of Education of the District (the “Board”); and (iv) the transaction of such other business as may be authorized by law. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the Board will hold a Public Hearing to present the proposed budget for the 2026-2027 fiscal year for school purposes on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. in the East Aurora Middle School Library, 430 Main Street, East Aurora, New York. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the Annual Meeting shall consist of voting on the following propositions, the election of three members of the Board, as well as on any other matters that may be lawfully presented at the meeting: PROPOSITION NO. 1 – BUDGET Shall the following resolution be adopted? RESOLVED, that the budget for the East Aurora Union Free School District, Erie County, New York (the “District”), for the fiscal year commencing July 1, 2026 and ending June 30, 2027, as presented by the Board of Education of the District is hereby approved and adopted, and the required funds therefor are hereby appropriated, and the necessary real property taxes required shall be levied on the taxable property in the District to be collected as required by law. PROPOSITION NO. 2 – EXPENDITURE FROM TECHNOLOGY RESERVE FUND Shall the following resolution be adopted? RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the East Aurora Union Free School District, Erie County, is hereby authorized, to expend $150,000 from the Capital Reserve Fund of the District known as the “Technology Reserve Fund 2019” (as established by the District’s voters at the District vote held on May 21, 2019) for the purpose of purchasing computer hardware, computer software and computer connectivity equipment. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the election of members of the Board shall be held to fill three (3) at-large positions on the Board. The candidate receiving the highest vote total shall be elected to a term commencing immediately after the election (upon filing the oath of office) and ending on June 30, 2029 to fill the vacancy created by the expiration of the term of Judith Malys. The candidates receiving the next two highest vote totals shall each be elected to three-year terms, commencing July 1, 2026 and ending June 30, 2029, to fill the vacancies created by the expiration, on June 30, 2026, of the terms of Daniel Brunson and D. Paul Blowers. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that all candidates for the office of member of the Board shall be nominated by petition. Each nominating petition must be directed to the District Clerk and must be signed by at least twenty-nine (29) qualified voters of the District, and must state the name and residence of each signer, and the name and residence of the candidate. Nominating petitions may be obtained in the District Clerk’s and/or the Deputy District Clerk’s Office, 430 Main Street, East Aurora, New York. Completed nominating petitions for the office of member of the Board must be filed in the Office of the District Clerk between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (except holidays), prior to 5:00 PM on Monday, April 20, 2026. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that applications for absentee and early mail ballots can be obtained from the office of the District Clerk between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. except Saturdays, Sundays or holidays. Completed applications must be received by the District Clerk at least seven (7) days before the date of the Annual Meeting (May 12, 2026) if the ballot is to be mailed to the applicant, or the day before such Annual Meeting (May 18, 2026), if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the applicant. Completed absentee and early mail ballots must be received in the office of the District Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on May 19, 2026. A list of all persons to whom absentee and early mail ballots have been issued will be available in the office of the Clerk of the District, where it shall be open for inspection by any qualified voter of the District between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., until the day set for voting, except for Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, and at the polling place on the date of the Annual Meeting. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that military voters who are qualified voters of the District may apply for a military ballot by requesting an application from the District Clerk. For a military voter to be issued a military ballot, the District Clerk must have received a valid application no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 23, 2026. In a request for a military ballot application or ballot, the military voter may indicate their preference for receiving the application or ballot by mail, facsimile transmission or electronic mail. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that that a copy of the statement of the amount of money which will be required for the 2026-27 fiscal year for school purposes, exclusive of public monies, may be obtained by any District resident beginning May 7, 2026 through and including May 19, 2026, excluding weekends and holidays, in the District Office and at each school house in the District during the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. This resolution shall take effect immediately.
