COLUMBIA COUNTY LEGAL NOTICE NOTICE OF BUDGET HEARING, ANNUAL MEETING AND ELECTION NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a Budget Hearing for the residents of the Hudson City School District, Columbia County, NY, will be held in the Auditorium of the Hudson Senior High School, 215 Harry Howard Avenue, Hudson, NY on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 , at 6:00 p.m. for the purpose of discussing the expenditures of funds and the budgeting thereof for the 2026-2027 school year . NOTICE is ALSO GIVEN that the Annual Meeting and Election will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 , between the hours of 11 o’clock a.m. and 8:00 p.m., for the purpose of voting: 1) on the budget for the 2026-2027 school year; 2) to fill two (2) three-year terms on the Board of Education ; and 3) on all other propositions. Such voting will be held at the following locations: School Election District No. 1 : Hudson City Central Fire Station, 77 North 7th Street, Hudson, NY. School Election District No. 2 : Greenport Community Center, 500 Town Hall Road, Greenport, NY School Election District No. 3 : A.B. Shaw Fire House, 67 State Route 23, Claverack, NY NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that a copy of the statement of the amount of money which will be required for the ensuing year for school purposes, exclusive of public monies, may be obtained by any resident in the District during the 14 days immediately preceding the Annual Meeting and Election, except Saturday, Sunday, or Holidays, at each of the school houses in which school is maintained, and the Business Office located at the Hudson Senior High School, 215 Harry Howard Avenue, Hudson, NY, by appointment, between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. together with the text of any propositions which may be lawfully presented to the voters. NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that petitions nominating candidates for the office of Member of the Board of Education must be filed with the District Clerk, by appointment, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., except Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays, no later than April 29, 2026 at 5 p.m. Petitions to nominate a candidate must be signed by at least one hundred (100) qualified voters of the District, shall state the residence of each qualified voter who signs, and shall state the name and primary legal (physical) residence of the candidate. Such register, prepared pursuant to Section 2606 of the Education Law, will thereafter be filed in the office of the District Clerk no later than five days before the Annual Meeting and Election where it will be open for inspection by any qualified voter of the District during the regular offices hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., except Sunday. If the absentee or early mail voting ballot is to be received personally by the voter, the completed application must be received, IN PERSON, by the District Clerk no later than 4:00 p.m., May, 18, 2026 ; one day before the annual meeting and election. Absentee and early mail ballots must be received by the District Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on the date of the election, May 19, 2026. A list of all persons to whom absentee and early mail ballots shall have been issued will be available for public inspection in the office of the District Clerk during the regular office hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the five days prior to Election Day, except Sunday. Military voters who are not currently registered may apply to register as a qualified voter of the school district with the Clerk of said School District at her office, at 215 Harry Howard Ave., Hudson, NY, or by calling that office, 518-828-4360 ext. 2101, or by emailing the District Clerk at coonsl@hudsoncsd.org. Any military voter shall be entitled to have his/her name placed upon such register. In accordance with Part 122 of the Rules and Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, military voters who are qualified voters of the school district may apply for a military ballot. Applications for military ballots may be requested from the District Clerk at 215 Harry Howard Ave., Hudson, NY or by calling that office at 518-828-4360 ext. 2101. Upon such request, such military voter may indicate his/her preference for receiving the application by mail, facsimile or electronic mail. Such registration application must be received in the office of the District Clerk no later than 4 p.m. on April 22, 2026 , the day before the Board of Registration of the School District will meet to prepare the school district register. Such registration application shall be considered by the Board of Registration at its meeting to prepare the register of voters for such annual meeting and election. Any military voter shall be entitled to have his/her name placed upon such register, provided that at such meeting of the Board of Registration, he/she is known or proven to the satisfaction of such Board of Registration to be then or thereafter entitled to military voter status at the annual meeting and election for which such register is prepared. A list containing the names of all persons to whom military ballots have been issued will be available for inspection in the office of the District Clerk during the regular hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. in the five days prior to Election Day, except Sunday.
