MCGRAW CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT NOTICE OF ANNUAL SCHOOL DISTRICT MEETING OF THE VOTERS OF THE MCGRAW CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE MCGRAW CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that pursuant to a Resolution adopted by the Board of Education of the District on March 5, 2026, the Annual Meeting of the qualified voters of said School District, County of Cortland, State of New York, will be held in the Main Lobby of the McGraw High School, 10 West Academy Street, McGraw, New York on May 19, 2026 from 12:00 noon to 8:00 P.M., prevailing time, for the purpose of voting upon the following propositions: PROPOSITION I (Budget) Shall the Board of Education of the McGraw Central School District be authorized to appropriate and expend an amount which is anticipated to be determined by said Board no later than April 20, 2026 for general purposes for the year of 2026-2027 and to levy a tax on the taxable property of the school district as provided by law? PROPOSITION II (Transportation) Shall the Board of Education purchase and, at its option, finance two (2) diesel student transportation vehicles, including necessary furnishings, fixtures and equipment and all other costs incidental thereto and expend a total sum not to exceed $346,585, which is estimated to be the total maximum cost thereof, and said amount, or so much thereof as may be necessary, shall be raised by the levy of a tax upon the taxable property of said School District and collected in annual installments as provided by Section 416 of the Education Law; and, in anticipation of such tax, obligations of said School District, in the principal amount not to exceed $346,585, shall be issued? PROPOSITION III (Board of Education Members) To elect two (2) members to the Board of Education for three (3) year terms (7/1/26 – 6/30/29). The seats are presently held by Darrin Osborne and Marisa Zogg. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that a budget hearing of the inhabitants of the School District who are qualified to vote at School District meetings will be held in the library of the McGraw High School located on West Academy St., McGraw, New York, commencing at 6:15 P.M. on Thursday, May 7, 2026 where there shall be presented the proposed School District budget for the following school year. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that voting upon the foregoing Propositions will be by paper ballots and will take place at the Main Lobby of the McGraw High School, 10 West Academy Street, McGraw, New York on May 19, 2026 from 12:00 noon to 8:00 P.M., prevailing time. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN A copy of the statement of the amount of money which would be required for the next school year for school purposes shall be completed seven days before the budget hearing and may be obtained by any resident of the District at each schoolhouse during the period of 14 days immediately before the annual meeting and election, and between the hours of 7:30 A.M. and 3:30 P.M. except Saturday, Sunday, or holiday. The following vacancies are to be filled: A three-year term ending June 30, 2029 presently held by Darrin Osborne A three-year term ending June 30, 2029 presently held by Marisa Zogg Each petition must be addressed to the Clerk of the District, be signed by at least 25 qualified voters of the District, shall state the residence of each signer, the name and address of the candidate. Vacancies upon the Board shall not be considered separate specific offices. The individuals receiving the highest number of votes shall be elected to the vacancies. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that personal voter registration on a continuous basis has been adopted by the School District for all eligible voters residing in the School District. Voters who are not already registered with the county in which they reside may register with the District Clerk at the District Office, 10 West Academy St., McGraw, New York between the hours of 7:30 A.M. and 3:30 P.M., Monday through Friday, with the exception of holidays, until the sixth day before the vote. Such voters’ names and addresses will be added to the voter register filed in the District Office. The prepared register of voters will be open for inspection by any qualified voter of the district between the hours of 7:30 A.M. and 3:30 P.M. each of the five days prior to and the day set for the meeting or election, except Sunday, or by appointment on Saturday. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that qualified voters of the District may obtain applications for an absentee ballot or an early voting ballot from the office of the Clerk of the District. Completed applications must be received by the Clerk of the District no later than 4:00 P.M. on May 18, 2026 and must be received no later than 4:00 P.M. on May 12, 2026 if the absentee ballot or an early voting ballot is to be mailed to the voter. Completed applications received after 4:00 P.M. on May 12, 2026 will require the voter to personally appear at the office of the Clerk of the District to receive an absentee ballot or an early voting ballot. A listing of all persons to whom an absentee ballot or an early voting ballot is issued will be available for inspection by any qualified voter in the office of the Clerk of the District between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. during each of the 5 business days prior to the election. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that military ballots may be applied for by qualified voters by requesting an application from the District Clerk at 607-836-3636 or fclough@mcgrawschools.org. Completed applications for military ballots must be received by the Clerk no later than 5:00 P.M. on April 24, 2026. In a request for a military ballot application or ballot, the military voter may indicate their preference for receiving the application or ballot by mail, facsimile transmission or electronic mail.
