WYOMING COUNTY LEGAL NOTICE NOTICE OF ANNUAL MEETING, BUDGET VOTE AND ELECTION WYOMING CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT TOWN OF MIDDLEBURY, COUNTY OF WYOMING, WYOMING, NEW YORK NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that a public hearing of the qualified voters of the Wyoming Central School District, Town of Middlebury, Wyoming County, Wyoming, New York, will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at 6:30 P.M. regular time in the Wyoming Central School Conference Room for the purpose of presenting the 2026-2027 Budget. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the annual meeting of the qualified voters of the Wyoming Central School District, Town of Middlebury, Wyoming County, Wyoming, New York will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 between the hours of 1:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M., local time, in the school front hall, at which time the polls will be open to vote by paper ballot upon the following items: 1. To adopt the annual budget of the school district for the fiscal year 2026-2027 and to authorize the requisite portion thereof to be raised by taxation on the taxable property of the district. 2. To elect one (1) member of the Board of Education for one (1) five (5) year term, commencing on July 1, 2026 and expiring on June 30, 2031. All board positions are at-large. AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that a copy of the statement of the amount of money which will be required to fund the School District's budget for 2026-2027, exclusive of public monies, and the tax exemption report may be obtained by any resident of the District during business hours beginning Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Wyoming Central School. AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that absentee ballot applications and early voting ballot applications may be obtained between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 3:00 P.M., Monday through Friday, except holidays, from the District Clerk, commencing April 3, 2026. Absentee ballots and Early Voting ballots must be received by the District Clerk no later than 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. A list of persons to whom absentee ballots and early voting ballots are issued will be available for inspection by qualified voters of the District in the Office of the District Clerk and will also be posted at the polling place at the election. AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that military voters as defined by Commissioner’s regulation Part 122 who are qualified voters of the District, may apply for a military ballot during school business hours at the office of the District Clerk. Ballot applications may be obtained by mail, facsimile or electronic mail, commencing April 3, 2026. Completed applications must be returned by mail or in-person by April 23, 2026 no later than 5:00 P.M. Ballots for military voters shall be mailed, facsimile or electronic mail or in-person no later than 25 days prior to the election. Completed military ballots must be received by the District Clerk, by mail or in-person, no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. A list of persons to whom military ballots are issued will be available for inspection by qualified voters of the District in the Office of the District Clerk and will also be posted at the polling place at the election. AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, petitions nominating candidates for the office of member of the Board of Education shall be filed with the Clerk of the said School District in her office in the Wyoming Central School, not later than April 20, 2026, between 9:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. Each petition shall be directed to the Clerk of the District and shall be signed by at least (25) qualified voters of the district, must state the name and residence of the candidate. AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the qualified voters of the School District shall be entitled to vote at said annual vote and election. A qualified voter is one who is (1) a citizen of the United States of America, (2) eighteen years of age or older, and (3) resident within the School District for a period of thirty (30) days next preceding the annual vote and election. The School district may require all persons offering to vote at the budget vote and election to provide one form of proof of residency pursuant to Education Law 2018-c. Such form may include a driver's license, a non-driver identification card, a utility bill, or a voter registration card.
