MORRISTOWN LEGAL NOTICE NOTICE OF ANNUAL HEARING, BUDGET VOTE, AND ELECTIONS MORRISTOWN CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT MORRISTOWN, NEW YORK COUNTY OF ST. LAWRENCE NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that a public hearing of the qualified voters of the Morristown Central School District, Morristown, County of St. Lawrence, New York, will be held in the Library of the Main School Building, located at 408 Gouverneur Street, Morristown, NY, in said District on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. prevailing time, for the presentation of the Proposed 2026-27 Budget. The Proposed Budget will be available for District residents’ review beginning no later than Tuesday, April 28, 2026, in the District’s Main Office from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., except Saturday, Sunday, or a holiday, as well as on the District’s webpage at https://www.greenrockets.org (under Board tab). NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the annual budget vote and election of the qualified voters of the Morristown Central School District, St. Lawrence County, New York will be held in the Main Lobby of the Main School Building, located at 408 Gouverneur Street, Morristown, NY, in said District on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, between the hours of Noon and 8:00 p.m., at which time the polls will be opened to vote by paper ballot upon the following items: To adopt the annual budget of the School District for the fiscal year 2026-2027 and to authorize the requisite portion thereof to be raised by taxation on the taxable property of the District. The Proposed 2026-27 Budget is $12,168,894, an increase of 3.6%, with a school tax levy of 2.33%. To elect one (1) member of the Board of Education with a three-year term, commencing July 1, 2026 and expiring on June 30, 2029. FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that a copy of the statement of the amount of money which will be required to fund the School District’s budget for 2026-2027 fiscal year, exclusive of public monies, may be obtained by any resident of the District beginning no later than Tuesday, April 28, 2026, except Saturday, Sunday, or holidays, from the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Main Office, Morristown Central School. FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that petitions nominating candidates for the office of member of the Board of Education shall be filed with the District Clerk of said School District at the District Office in Morristown Central School, no later than Monday, April 20, 2026, no later than 5:00 p.m. EDT. Each petition shall be directed to the District Clerk and shall be signed by at least twenty-five (25) voters of the District, must state the name and residence of the candidate, and must state the name and address of each signer. FURTHER NOTICE HEREBY GIVEN, that pursuant to the Education Law, that qualified voters of the District may obtain applications for an absentee ballot by contacting the District Clerk at (315) 375-8814, ext. 21001 or in person between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, except on Saturdays, Sundays, or holidays. Completed applications must be received in the District Office at least seven (7) days prior to election, by Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 4:00 p.m., for ballot mailing. The completed absentee ballot must be received at the District Office, Morristown Central School, 408 Gouverneur Street, Morristown, NY 13664, prior to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. A list of persons to whom absentee ballots have been issued will be available for inspection in the District Clerk’s Office, during regular business hours, during each of the five days prior to the election, except Sundays. FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that qualified voters can request an early voting mail ballot application from District Clerk Stacey Basford at sbasford@mcsk12.org or call (315) 375-8814, ext. 21001. Completed applications must be received in the District Office at least seven (7) days prior to the election, by Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 4:00 p.m., for ballot mailing. Ballots must be received at the District Office, Morristown Central School, 408 Gouverneur Street, Morristown, NY 13664, prior to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
