LIVINGSTON COUNTY LEGAL NOTICE Legal Notice KESHEQUA CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT BUDGET HEARING, VOTE AND ELECTION NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the budget hearing of the residents of the Keshequa Central School District, Livingston, Allegany, and Wyoming Counties, New York qualified to vote at the school meetings in said District will be held in the Nunda Building Auditorium, at 13 Mill Street, in the Village of Nunda, New York in said District on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. eastern daylight savings time. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE, that the annual vote of the District will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m., eastern daylight savings time in the Nunda District Lobby on 13 Mill Street, in the Village of Nunda, New York which vote will be taken on the appropriation of the necessary funds to meet the estimated expenditures in the budget for the fiscal year 2026-2027. In addition, a vote shall be taken on the following: Proposition to Purchase Buses. Shall the following resolution be adopted to wit: Resolved that the Board of Education of the Dalton-Nunda Central School District is hereby authorized to undertake the acquisition of school buses, including, without limitation, one (1) 64-passenger Type C diesel school bus at an estimated maximum cost of $175,437, one (1) 30-passenger Type C diesel school bus at an estimated maximum cost of $151,587, and two (2) SUV-type vehicles at an estimated maximum aggregate cost of $142,000, all at an estimated maximum aggregate cost of $469,024, less trade-in value, if any, and that such cost, or so much thereof as may be necessary, shall be raised by the levy of a tax to be collected in annual installments, with such tax to be offset by state aid available therefor; and, in anticipation of such tax, debt obligations of the school district as may be necessary not to exceed $469,024 shall be issued, or the School District may enter into an installment purchase contract if the Board of Education determines that it is in the best interest of the School District to finance the purchase in that method. The election of two (2) board members to the Board of Education. One is for the term currently held by Jeff Bugman and the other is the vacated seat by Terry Lowell. These vacancies are each a four-year term. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE: that all candidates for office of member of the Board of Education shall be nominated by petition. Each petition shall be directed to the Clerk of the Board of Education; shall be signed by at least twenty-five (25) qualified voters of the District; shall state the residence of each signer and shall state the name and residence of the candidate. Each petition shall be filed in the office of the Clerk of the Board between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., eastern daylight savings time. Petitions are due no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 20, 2026. Candidates for the Board of Education are required to file by law, sworn statements of campaign expenses. Information on the procedure may be obtained from the District Clerk. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE: that scanning voting machines will be used to record the vote on the budget, on all propositions, and on the election of Board Members. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE: that the Board of Education of this District will have prepared and completed a statement in writing of the amount of money that will be required of the ensuing fiscal year, 2026-2027, and the tax exemption report, for school purposes. Such statement and tax exemption report will be available, upon request, to taxpayers within the District between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., eastern daylight savings time from May 6, 2026 to May 19, 2026, exclusive of May 9 th , 10 th , 16 th and 17 th , 2026 , in the Elementary School, the District Office, and public library. It will also be available on the District website. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE: that early mail and absentee ballots may be applied for at the District Clerk’s office beginning April 27, 2026 and must be returned by 5:00 pm May 19, 2026, the day of the vote. A list of early mail and absentee voters will be available for public inspection in the office of the District Clerk beginning on April 27, 2026 between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and each Monday through Friday until and including May 19, 2026. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that military voters as defined by Commissioner’s regulation § 122.2(f), who are qualified voters of the District, may apply for a military ballot during school business hours at the District Clerk’s office. Completed applications for military ballots must be received by the District Clerk by April 23, 2026. Ballots for military voters shall be mailed, or otherwise distributed, no later than fourteen (14) days prior to the election. A military voter may designate a preference to receive a military ballot application or military ballot by mail, facsimile transmission or electronic mail in their request for such ballot application or ballot. Completed early vote, absentee and military ballots must be received by the District Clerk no later than 5:00 PM on the day of the Annual District Meeting and Election in order to be canvassed.
