Legal Notices PINE VALLEY CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT SOUTH DAYTON, NEW YORK NOTICE OF ANNUAL MEETING & ELECTION NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Annual Meeting and Election of the Pine Valley Central School District (“District”), Chautauqua County, New York, will be held at the Pine Valley Jr./Sr. High School Building, 7827 Route 83, South Dayton, New York, in said District on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, between the hours of 12:00 noon p.m. and 8:30 p.m., at which time, the election of members of the Board of Education and the vote upon the appropriation of the necessary funds to meet the estimated expenditures of the School District for the 2026-2027 school year, and the vote upon any and all Propositions involving the expenditure of money or authorizing the levy of taxes will take place. AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that the Annual Budget Hearing of the School District will be held by the Board of Education on May 7, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at Pine Valley Elementary School Library, 7755 Route 83, South Dayton, New York, at which Hearing, the proposed 2026-2027 School District budget will be presented to the voters of the District. AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that pursuant to a resolution duly adopted by the Board of Education, the propositions set forth below shall be submitted for voting to the voters of the District at the said Annual Meeting: Proposition 1 – Basic Budget Shall the following resolution be adopted, to wit: RESOLVED that the basic budget for the Pine Valley Central School District (the “District”) for the fiscal year commencing July 1, 2026, and ending June 30, 2027, as presented by the Board of Education, is hereby approved and adopted. The required funds, therefore, are hereby appropriated. The necessary real property taxes required shall be raised by a tax on the taxable property in the District to be levied and collected as required by law. AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that the election of members of the Board of Education shall be held to fill three (3) at-large positions on the Board: these positions to be for three (3) year terms commencing July 1, 2026, and expiring June 30, 2029. The election of members will be to fill three (3) vacancies created by the expiration on June 30, 2026, of the terms of members Angelica Astry, Jeffrey Chase (Board President), and Christie Lokietek. AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that petitions nominating candidates for the office of Member of the Board of Education are available between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. in the Office of the District Clerk at 7755 Route 83, South Dayton, New York. Petitions must be filed between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., not later than Monday, April 20, 2026, in the Office of the District Clerk at 7755 Route 83, South Dayton, New York. Each nominating Petition must be directed to the Clerk of the District, signed by at least 25 qualified voters of the District, stating the name and the residence of the candidate and each signer. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that applications for early mail and absentee ballots may be applied for at the Office of the School District Clerk. Applications for early mail and absentee ballots must be received by the School District Clerk by or prior to 5:00 p.m. (EDST) on May 13, 2026, if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or prior to 5:00 p.m. (EDST), May 18, 2026, if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter. A list of all persons to whom early mail and absentee ballots have been issued will be available for inspection in the Office of the School District Clerk on each of the five (5) days prior to the day of the election (beginning May 12, 2026, except Saturday and Sunday), and such list shall also be posted at the voting place during the election, and any qualified voter may challenge the acceptance of the early mail or absentee voter’s ballot of any person on such list, by making his challenge and the reasons therefor known to the School District Clerk prior to the Annual Meeting or the Inspector of Election before the close of the polls. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that applications for military voter ballots may be applied for at the Office of the School District Clerk. Applications for military voter ballots must be received by the School District Clerk by or prior to 5:00 p.m. (EDST) on April 23, 2026. Eligible military voters may designate a preference for receiving their applications by mail, facsimile transmission, or electronic mail. If no designation is indicated, the military ballot application will be transmitted by mail. A list of all persons to whom military voter ballots have been issued will be available for inspection in the Office of the School District Clerk on each of the five (5) days prior to the day of the election (beginning May 12, 2026, except Saturday and Sunday), and such list shall also be posted at the voting place during the election, and any qualified voter may challenge the acceptance of the military voter’s ballot of any person on such list, by making his challenge and the reasons therefor known to the School District Clerk prior to the Annual Meeting or the Inspector of Election before the close of the polls.
