NOTICE OF ANNUAL MEETING, BUDGET VOTE AND ELECTION

TUXEDO UNION FREE SCHOOL DISTRICT

TOWNS OF TUXEDO AND WARWICK

COUNTY OF ORANGE, NEW YORK

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that a Public Hearing of the qualified voters of the Tuxedo Union Free School District, Towns of Tuxedo and Warwick, Orange County, New York, will be held at George Grant Mason Elementary School Multipurpose Room in said district on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at 7:30 p.m., prevailing time, for the presentation of the 2026-2027 budget.

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN, that the Annual Meeting, including Budget Vote and Election, of the qualified and registered voters of the Tuxedo Union Free School District of the Towns of Tuxedo and Warwick, Orange County, New York, will be held in the George Grant Mason Elementary School Multipurpose Room in said District on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., prevailing time, at which time the polls will be open to vote by voting machine upon the following items:

1. To vote on the annual budget of the School District for the fiscal year 2026-2027, and to authorize the requisite portion thereof to be raised by taxation on the taxable property of the District (Proposition No. 1).

2. To elect one (1) member to the Board of Education, commencing July 1, 2026 and terminating on June 30, 2029.

3. To vote on the following proposition:

Proposition No. 2 – Five-Year Transportation Contract

Shall the Board of Education of the Tuxedo Union Free School District enter into a five-year transportation contract with First Student, Inc., for the period from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2031, for Home-to-School, Summer School, and Field and Sports Trips?

AND FURTHER NOTICE IS GIVEN that petitions nominating candidates for the office of member of the Board of Education shall be filed with the Clerk of said School District at the Superintendent’s Office, George F. Baker High School, 1 Tornado Drive, Tuxedo, New York, not later than Monday, April 20, 2026 by 5:00 p.m. Each petition shall be directed to the Clerk of the District, shall be signed by at least twenty-five (25) qualified voters of the District and must state the name and residence address of the candidate and the name and residence address of each signer. Petition forms may be obtained on the district website or at the Superintendent’s Office on weekdays when school is in session during regular business hours.

AND FURTHER NOTICE IS GIVEN, that the qualified and registered voters of the School

District shall be entitled to vote at said annual vote and election. A qualified voter is one who is

(1) a citizen of the United States, (2) 18 years of age or older, and (3) a resident within the School District for a continuous period of thirty (30) days immediately preceding the annual vote and election.

AND FURTHER NOTICE IS GIVEN that personal registration of voters is required pursuant to Section 2014 of the Education Law. If a voter has heretofore registered to vote with the School District and has voted within the last four calendar years, they are eligible to vote at this annual vote and election. If a voter is currently registered to vote with the Orange County Board of Elections, they are also eligible to vote. All other persons who wish to vote must register either with the Orange County Board of Elections or with the District.

AND FURTHER NOTICE IS GIVEN that any qualified voter may register to vote for the Annual Budget Vote and School Board Election to be held on May 19, 2026 during regular school business hours, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on days when the District Offices are open, at the Office of the District Clerk in the George F. Baker High School; 1 Tornado Drive; Tuxedo, NY, through May 14, 2026.

AND FURTHER NOTICE IS GIVEN that the register of voters, including the names of military voters who submitted valid military registrations, shall be filed in the Office of the District Clerk and shall be open for inspection by any qualified voter of the District between the hours of 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., prevailing time, on each of the five days prior to the election and vote, except Saturday and Sunday. Said register will be open for inspection at the polling place on the date of election and vote.

AND FURTHUR NOTICE IS GIVEN that applications for early mail ballots and absentee ballots for the Annual School District Election and Vote may be obtained at the Office of the District Clerk or on the District website. The application for early mail ballot or absentee ballot must be received by the District Clerk no more than thirty (30) days and at least seven (7) days prior to the election if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election if the ballot will be picked up personally by the voter or the voter’s designated agent in the application, at the District Office. Early mail ballots and absentee ballots must be received at the Office of the District Clerk by no later than 5:00 p.m., prevailing time, on the day of the election and vote, May 19, 2026. Separate lists of persons to whom early mail ballots, absentee ballots, and military ballots have been issued, will be available for inspection to qualified voters of the District, at the Office of the District Clerk during regular office hours, until the day of the election and vote. Any qualified voter may file a written challenge of the qualifications of a voter, whose name appears on any such list, stating the reasons for the challenge.

AND FURTHER NOTICE IS GIVEN that military voters who are not currently registered to vote may obtain an application to register as a qualified voter of the District and military voters who are registered to vote in the District may obtain an application for a military ballot, for the

The completed application to register and/or for a military ballot must be received by the District Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 23, 2026. Military ballots will be mailed or otherwise sent no later than 25 days before the election. Military ballots must be returned by mail or in person and received by the District clerk by 5:00 P.M. on May 19, 2026.
