WATERVILLE CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT LEGAL NOTICE NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON BUDGET NOTICE OF ANNUAL ELECTION NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Public Hearing will be held at the Jr/Sr High School in the Bud Dorr Board of Education Conference Room in the school building in such District at 381 Madison Street, Waterville, New York, on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at 5:45 P.M. for the purpose of discussion of the expending of the funds and the budgeting therefore for the 2026-2027 school year. FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that voting on the appropriation of the necessary funds to meet the estimated expenditures of said District for the fiscal year commencing July 1, 2026 and authorizing the Board of Education of said District to raise the funds so estimated, exclusive of public moneys, by a tax on the taxable property in said District by adoption of a budget and to levy tax, shall be conducted on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 between the hours of 10:00 A.M. and 8:00 P.M. at the Jr/Sr High School Cafeteria at 381 Madison Street, Waterville, New York. FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that voting on Proposition #1 authorizing the Board of Education to undertake the acquisition of two (2) large school buses and one (1) wheelchair school bus all at an estimated maximum aggregate cost of $509,000, less trade-in value, if any, and that such cost, or so much thereof as may be necessary, shall be raised by the levy of a tax to be collected in annual installments; and, in anticipation of such tax, debt obligations of the school district as may be necessary not to exceed $509,000 shall be issued, or the School District may enter into an installment purchase contract if the Board of Education determines that it is in the best interest of the School District to finance the purchase in that method. FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that 3 vacancies on the Board of Education are to be filled for a 3-year term commencing July 1, 2026 and concluding June 30, 2029. If the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter at the Office of the District Clerk the completed application must be received by the District Clerk no later than May 18, 2026. No ballot will be canvassed unless it has been received in the Office of the District Clerk of the School District no later than 5:00 P.M. on May 19, 2026. A list of all persons to whom absentee and early mail ballots have been issued will be available in the Office of the District Clerk’s on weekdays between 8:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. on and after May 13, 2026. Any qualified voter may, upon examination of such list, file a written challenge of the qualifications as a voter of any person whose name appears on such list, stating the reasons for such challenge. Such written challenge shall be transmitted by the District Clerk to the inspectors of election on election day. A challenge to an early voting ballot may not be made on the basis that the voter should have applied for an absentee ballot. FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that military voters who are not currently registered may apply to register as a qualified voter of the School District by requesting to be registered by the District clerk at 315-841-3816 or jnichols@watervillecsd.org. Registered, qualified voters of the School district may apply for a military ballot by requesting an application from the District Clerk at the phone number or email address listed above. For a military voter to be issued a military ballot, the District Clerk must have received a valid ballot application no later than 5:00 P.M.. on May 8, 2026. In a request for a military ballot application or ballot, the military voter may indicate their preference for receiving the application or ballot by mail, facsimile transmission or electronic mail. FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a copy of the statement of the amount of money which will be required for the ensuing year for school purposes, exclusive of public moneys, and the tax exemption report, may be obtained by any taxpayer in the District during the fourteen (14) days immediately preceding the day of the Annual Election date, except Saturday, Sunday or holidays, at the following locations during the designated hours: Memorial Park Elementary School 145 East Bacon Street 8:00 A.M. - 3:00 P.M. FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the proposed budget for the Waterville Public Library for the ensuing year as prepared by the Library Trustees shall be voted on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 between the hours of 10:00 A.M. and 8:00 P.M. at the Jr/Sr High School Cafeteria at 381 Madison Street, Waterville, New York.
