OSWEGATCHIE LEGAL NOTICE Resolution Pursuant to Town Law 60-a to remove one Town Justice Position WHEREAS, The Town of Oswegatchie has previously had two Town Justice position’s and WHEREAS, both Town Justice positions began a new term running from January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2029 and WHEREAS, the Justice position of Lindsey Cougler-Bouchey is now vacant since said Justice resigned in the middle of January 2026 for the reason that she moved out of the district, and WHEREAS, The Town Board has done an audit and research with regards to the number of cases that were handled by said Justice, and WHEREAS, it appears that the amount of work in the Town of Oswegatchie can be adequately handled by one Judge, Matthew R. Denner RESOLVED THAT THE TOWN OF OSWEGATCHIE BY THIS RESOLUTION HEREBY PROPOSES TO ELIMINATE THE JUSTICE POSITION FORMERLY OCCUPIED BY LINDSEY COUGLER-BOUCHEY AND PROCEED AS A TOWN WITH ONE JUSTICE POSITION. THIS RESOLUTION IS SUBJECT TO PERMISSIVE REFERENDUM. WHEREFORE, by this resolution the Town or the Town of Oswegatchie it is in the best interest for the Town of Oswegatchie to eliminate the justice position formerly occupied by Lindsey Cougler-Bouchey and proceed with one Justice position in the Town of Oswegatchie and that this Resolution is subject to publication and permissive referendum.
