ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY LEGAL NOTICE NOTICE OF ANNUAL MEETING/ BUDGET VOTE BRASHER FALLS CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT COUNTY OF ST. LAWRENCE, BRASHER FALLS, NEW YORK NOTICE IS GIVEN, that a public hearing of the qualified voters of the Brasher Falls Central School District will be held in the MS/HS School Auditorium, located at 1039 State Highway 11c, Brasher Falls, NY in said District on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at 6:00 PM, for the presentation of the proposed 2026-2027 school budget. The proposed budget will be available for district residents to review beginning on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 in the District Office from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, excepting Saturday, Sunday or a Holiday, in the High School Building, located at 1039 State Highway 11c, Brasher Falls, NY. NOTICE IS GIVEN, that the annual budget vote and election of the qualified voters of the Brasher Falls Central School District (the “Election”) will be held in the Middle School Gymnasium of the Middle/High School Building, located at 1039 State Highway 11c, Brasher Falls on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 between the hours of 12:00 PM and 8:00 PM, at which time the polls will be opened to vote; voting will be by paper ballot upon the following items: 1. To adopt the annual budget for the School District for the fiscal year 2026-2027 and to authorize the requisite portion thereof to be raised by taxation on the taxable property of the District. 2. To elect two members for the following seats, running at large, on the Board of Education, each for a five-year term commencing July 1, 2026 and expiring June 30, 2031 to succeed current members Courtney Hallahan and Lance St. Hilaire. 3. To elect two members for the following seats, running at large, on the Badenhausen Public Library Board, each for a three-year term commencing July 1, 2026 and expiring June 30, 2029, to succeed current member Veronica Derouchie and to fill a vacant position. 4. Shall the Board of Education of the Brasher Falls Central School District be authorized to: (1) acquire three (3) school buses, at a cost not to exceed $650,000 which is estimated to be the maximum cost thereof; (2) expend such sum for such purpose; (3) levy the necessary tax therefore, to be levied and collected in annual installments in such years and in such amounts as may be determined by the Board of Education in accordance with Section 416 of the Education Law, taking into account state aid; and (4) in anticipation of the collection of such tax, issue bonds, notes and/or installment purchase contracts of the District at one time or from time to time in the principal amount not to exceed $650,000, and levy a tax to pay the interest on said obligations when due? 5. SHALL the Board of Education of the Brasher Falls Central School District be authorized to: (1) establish an Equipment Capital Reserve Fund pursuant to §3651 of the New York Education Law in an amount not to exceed $1,500,000, with a probable term of ten (10) years, to be used to pay the cost of the acquisition of maintenance and grounds equipment, and (2) appropriate from time to time from available fund balance and/or other legally available sources of the School District to such Equipment Capital Reserve Fund? NOTICE IS GIVEN that petitions to nominate candidates to the Board of Education must be filed in the District Clerk’s Office between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM no later than April 20, 2026. NOTICE IS GIVEN that applications for absentee ballots will be obtainable between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM Monday through Friday, except holidays, from the District Clerk. A list of persons to whom absentee ballots are issued will be available for inspection in the District Clerk’s Office on each of the 5 days before the Election between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM and shall be posted at the polling place at the Election. NOTICE IS GIVEN that applications for early mail ballots will be obtainable between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM Monday through Friday, except holidays, from the District Clerk. Early mail ballots may be requested by a signed letter and received by the District Clerk no earlier than 30 days before the election and no later than seven days before the election. A list of persons to whom early mail ballots are issued will be available for inspection in the District Clerk’s Office on each of the 5 days before the Election between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM and shall be posted at the polling place at the Election. NOTICE IS GIVEN that military voters who are qualified voters of the District may apply for a military ballot by requesting an application from the District Clerk at (315) 389-5131 ext. 29108 between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM Monday through Friday, except holidays or atrimboli@bfcsd.org. For a military voter to be issued a military ballot, the Clerk must have received a valid ballot application by 4:00 PM on April 24, 2026. Military voters may designate a preference to receive a military ballot application or a military ballot by mail, fax or e-mail. A list of persons to whom military ballots are issued will be available for inspection to qualified voters of the District in the District Clerk’s Office on and after April 29, 2026, between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM on weekdays until the day of the election.
