NOTICE OF ANNUAL SCHOOL DISTRICT PUBLIC HEARING AND VOTE NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Annual School District Vote of the Owen D. Young Central School District, Herkimer County, New York, will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 from 12 o’clock noon Eastern Daylight Savings Time to 8 p.m. Eastern Daylight Savings Time at the Owen D. Young Central School Founder’s Study for the purposes of voting on the following proposition: Proposition 1 - Approve the budget for the fiscal year 2026-2027; The election of two members of the Board of Education, two three-year terms to commence July l, 2026 to fill the vacancies created by the expiration on June 30, 2026 of the terms of Mrs. Amy Doody and Mr. Paul Kennerknecht. The vote will also include Proposition 2 – Approval to increase Jordanville Public Library tax levy; The election of one member of the Jordanville Library Board: one three-year term to commence on July 1, 2026 to fill the vacancy created by the expiration on June 30, 2026 of the terms of Ms. Debra Bronner. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that all candidates for the office of member of the Board of Education and the Jordanville Library Board shall be nominated by petition. Each petition shall be directed to the Clerk of the District, shall be signed by at least 25 qualified voters of the District, shall state the residence of each signer, and shall state the name of residence of the candidate. Each petition must be filed in the office of the Clerk of the District no later than 3:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Savings Time on April 20, 2026. PROPOSITION NO. 1 RESOLVED, that the budget for the Owen D. Young Central School District in the Counties of Otsego, Herkimer, and Montgomery in the State of New York, for the fiscal year commencing July l, 2026, and ending June 30, 2027, as presented by the Board of Education, is hereby approved and adopted and the required funds therefore are hereby appropriated and the necessary real property taxes required shall be raised by a tax on the taxable property in said District to be levied and collected as required by law. PROPOSITION NO. 2 RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Owen D. Young Central School District in the counties of Otsego, Herkimer, and Montgomery in the State of New York, is authorized and directed to levy a one thousand seven hundred and seventy-five dollar increase ($1,775) in the funds payable to the Trustees of the Jordanville Public Library. These monies shall be considered as annual appropriations thereafter, until changed by further vote and shall be levied and collected annually. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that a public hearing for the voters of the District on the 2026-2027 budget and expenditure of funds will be held on May 11, 2026 commencing at 6:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Savings Time at the Owen D. Young Central School Founder’s Study. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the Board of Education of this District will have prepared and completed a detailed statement in writing of the amount of money which will be required during the ensuing 2026-2027 fiscal year for school purposes, specifying the several purposes and the amount for each. The amount of each purpose estimated necessary for payments to Boards of Cooperative Educational Services shall be set forth in full with no deduction of estimated state aid. The tax exemption report, along with said statements will be available, upon request, to taxpayers within this District during the hours of 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight-Saving Time during the fourteen days immediately preceding the vote, exclusive of weekend days and holidays, at the District Business Office. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that paper ballots will be used to record the vote on the propositions, and on the election of members of the Board of Education and Jordanville Library Board. Qualified absentee voters may apply for absentee ballots during the hours listed above through the District Clerk’s office.
