HUDSON FALLS CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT NOTICE of ANNUAL SCHOOL DISTRICT MEETING and ELECTION NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a Budget Hearing of the qualified voters of the Hudson Falls Central School District will be held at the High School, 80 East LaBarge Street in the Village of Hudson Falls, in said District, on the 11th day of May, 2026, at 6:30, P.M., pursuant to a Resolution heretofore adopted by the Board of Education for the purpose of presentation of the proposed 2026-27 Budget. The Budget will be available for review on May 5, 2026 at the High School District Office. NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that the Annual Meeting for the purpose of voting by all those qualified to vote at said Annual Meeting upon the appropriation of the necessary funds to meet the estimated expenditures of the School District (School District Budget), the annual election of members of the Board of Education of said School District, and Propositions II, III & IV herein, will be held at the Hudson Falls High School, 80 East LaBarge Street, in the Village of Hudson Falls, in said District, on the 19th of May, 2026, between the hours of 12:00 P.M. and 8 P.M. The Budget will include an appropriation of $40,000 for the Hudson Falls Free Library. NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that the following Propositions will be voted upon: Proposition II - Purchase of Property RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Hudson Falls Central School District, Washington County, New York, is hereby authorized to purchase the real property located at 76 Martindale Avenue, Hudson Falls, New York, at the appraised price of $137,000, less reasonable and customary closing costs and expenses. Proposition III - Purchase of Gas/Diesel School Buses RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Hudson Falls Central School District is hereby authorized to purchase three 30-passenger school buses, and two 10-passenger Transit Vans at a total cost not to exceed $525,000 and that the sum of $525,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary shall be raised by the levy of a tax upon the taxable property of said School District and collected in annual installments as provided by the Education Law and the Local Finance Law, and in anticipation of such tax, obligations of said School District shall be issued. Proposition IV - Purchase of Electric School Bus RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Hudson Falls Central School District is hereby authorized to purchase a 27-passenger electric school bus at a total cost not to exceed $395,000 subject to the District obtaining available grants, if any, and that the sum of $395,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary shall be raised by the levy of a tax upon the taxable property of said School District and collected in annual installments as provided by the Education Law and the Local Finance Law, and in anticipation of such tax, obligations of said School District shall be issued. NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that a copy of the statement of the amount of money which will be required for the ensuing year for school purposes and the tax exemption report may be obtained by any taxpayer in the District at the following school buildings in said District, during the fourteen days immediately preceding the District Election, except a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday, between the hours of 8:30 A.M. and 3:30 P.M.: High School, Middle School, Intermediate School, Primary School, and Margaret M. Murphy Kindergarten Center. NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that petitions nominating candidates for the office of member of the Board of Education must be filed in the office of the Clerk of the District between the hours of 9:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M., no later than Monday, April 20, 2026. The following vacancies are to be filled on the Board of Education: TERM NAME OF LAST INCUMBENT Five Years Jeffrey Gaulin Each vacancy is a separate, specific office and a separate petition is required to nominate a candidate to each separate office. Each petition must be directed to the Clerk of the District, must be signed by at least twenty-five (25) qualified voters of the District, must state the residence of each signer, must state the name and residence of the candidate, and must describe the specific vacancy for which the candidate is nominated, including at least the length of the term of office and the name of the last incumbent. NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that absentee ballots for the budget vote and election of board members may be applied for at the Office of the Clerk at the High School Office located at 80 East LaBarge Street, Hudson Falls. The District Clerk must receive the application at least seven (7) days before the election if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter or prior to 4:00 p.m. on the day before the election if the ballot is to be personally received from the District Clerk. AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the qualified voters of the School District shall be entitled to vote at said annual vote and election. A qualified voter is one who is (1) a citizen of the United States of America, (2) eighteen years of age or older, and (3) a resident within the School District for a period of thirty (30) days preceding the annual vote and election.
