MASSENA LEGAL NOTICE NOTICE OF ANNUAL MEETING NOTICE IS GIVEN that the Budget Hearing of Massena Central School District will be held in the Auditorium of the Massena High School, 84 Nightengale Avenue, Massena, NY on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. for the presentation of the budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year. NOTICE IS GIVEN that the Annual Meeting (budget vote and election of Board members) of the inhabitants of the Massena Central School District, qualified to vote at school meetings in said district, will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m. at the Massena Community Center, 61 Beach Street, Massena, NY, at which time the polls will be open to vote, with voting anticipated to be by voting machine upon the following items: The following budget resolution: 1. RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Massena Central School District be authorized to expend the sums set forth in the budget as presented, during the 2026-2027 school year, and to levy the necessary tax therefore. 2. To elect two (2) members of the Board of Education, for a 5-year term commencing July 1, 2026 and expiring June 30, 2031. 3. Such other propositions as may legally, and with proper notification, be brought before the voters. NOTICE IS GIVEN that a copy of the statement of the amount of money which will be required for the ensuing year for school purposes, may be obtained by any resident in the district during the fourteen (14) days immediately preceding the Annual Meeting except Saturdays, Sundays, or holidays at the Office of the Superintendent of Schools during business hours. NOTICE IS GIVEN that petitions nominating candidates for the Office of Member of the Board of Education must be filed in the Clerk’s office between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., no later than April 20, 2026. Each petition shall be signed by at least 30 qualified voters of the Massena Central School District, and must state the name and residence of the candidate. NOTICE IS GIVEN that applications for absentee ballots and early mail ballots may be applied for at the office of the District Clerk during business hours, Monday through Friday, except holidays. Completed applications must be received by the District Clerk at least seven (7) days before the election if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election, if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter. Completed absentee and early mail ballots must be received by the District Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on the day of the vote. NOTICE IS GIVEN that military voters who are qualified voters of the School District may apply for a military ballot by requesting an application from the District Clerk at (315) 764-3700, ext. 3008 or asnyder@mcs.k12.ny.us. For a military voter to be issued a military ballot, the District Clerk must have received a valid ballot application no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 23, 2026. In a request for a military ballot application or ballot, the military voter may indicate their preference for receiving the application or ballot by mail, facsimile transmission or electronic mail. A list of all persons to whom absentee, early mail, and military ballots have been issued will be available in said office of the District Clerk on each of the five (5) days prior to the day of the election, except Sunday, and such list will also be posted at the polling place at the election of members of the Board of Education.
