Annual Meeting Notice NOTICE OF ANNUAL MEETING, BUDGET VOTE, ELECTION AND PUBLIC HEARING MORAVIA CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT TOWN OF MORAVIA, COUNTY OF CAYUGA, NEW YORK NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that a public hearing of the qualified voters of the Moravia Central School District Number 1, of the Towns of Moravia, Locke, Niles, Sempronius, Venice and Summerhill, Cayuga County; Lansing, Tompkins County; and Skaneateles, Onondaga County, will be held in the jr/sr high school cafeteria in said District on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 6:30 PM prevailing time, for the presentation of the budget. The budget and the tax exemption report will be available for review on April 28, 2026, at the district office located in the jr/sr high school. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the annual meeting of the qualified voters of the Moravia Central School District Number 1, will be held at the jr/sr high school north side foyer in said district on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, between the hours of 7:00 AM and 9:00 PM, prevailing time, at which time the polls will be opened to vote by voting machine upon the following items: 1. To adopt the annual budget of the School District for the fiscal year 2026-2027 and to authorize the requisite portion thereof to be raised by taxation on the taxable property of the District. 2. To approve the purchase of student transport vehicles, including necessary furnishings, fixtures and equipment and all other costs incidental thereto, and expend a total sum not to exceed $475,000, which is estimated to be the total maximum cost thereof, and said amount, or so much thereof as may be necessary, shall be raised by the levy of a tax upon the taxable property of said school district and collected in annual installments as provided by Section 416 of the Education Law; and, in anticipation of such tax, obligations of said school district, in the principal amount not to exceed $475,000, shall be issued. 3. To levy taxes and pay over such monies to the trustees of the Powers Library Association. 4. To elect (2) two members of the Board, each for a term of three years commencing July 1, 2026, and expiring on June 30, 2029. AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a copy of the statement of the amount of money which will be required to fund the School District’s budget for 2026-2027, exclusive of public monies, may be obtained by any resident of the District during business hours on each day other than a Saturday, Sunday or holiday, beginning April 28, 2025, at each schoolhouse in the district. AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that petitions nominating candidates for the office of a member of the Board of Education shall be filed with the Clerk of said School District at her office in the jr/sr high school, not later than Monday, April 20, 2025, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, prevailing time. Each petition shall be directed to the Clerk of the District and shall be signed by at least 25 voters of the District, and must state the name and residence of the candidate. AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that applicants for absentee ballots or early voting ballots (where applicable) will be obtainable between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, prevailing time, Monday through Friday, except holidays, from the District Clerk not earlier than the 30 th day prior to the election. Completed absentee or early voting ballot applications must be received by the District Clerk at least seven (7) days before the election if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election, if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter. Absentee or early voting ballots must be received by the District Clerk not later than 5:00 PM, prevailing time, on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. A list of persons to whom absentee ballots or early voting ballots are issued will be available for inspection to qualified voters of the district in the office of the District Clerk between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, prevailing time, on weekdays prior to the day set for the annual election and on May 19, 2026, the day set for the election. Any qualified voter present in the polling place may object to the voting of the ballot upon appropriate grounds for making his/her challenge and the reasons therefore known to the Inspector of Election before the close of the polls. AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the qualified voters of the School District shall be entitled to vote at said annual vote and election. A qualified voter is one who is (1) a citizen of the United States of America, (2) eighteen years of age or older, and (3) resident within the School District for a period of thirty (30) days next preceding the annual vote and election. The School District may require all persons offering to vote at the budget vote and election to provide one form of proof of residency pursuant to Education law 2018-c. Such form may include a driver’s license, a non-driver identification card, a utility bill, or a voter registration card. AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, any referenda or propositions to amend the budget, otherwise to be submitted for voting at said election, must be filed with the Moravia Central School Board of Education at the District Office on or before April 20, 2026, at 5:00 PM prevailing time; must be typed or printed in English, must be directed to the Clerk of the School District and signed by at least (25) qualified voters of the District; and must state the name and residence of each signer. However, the school board will not entertain any petition to place before the voters any proposition the purpose of which is not within the powers of the voters to determine, or any proposition which fails to include a specific appropriation where the expenditure of monies is required by the proposition. AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that military ballots be applied for during school business hours at the Office of Clerk of the School District. Completed applications for military ballots must be received by the Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 23, 2026 . An individual will qualify as a military voter if he or she (1) is a qualified voter of the State of New York , who is in actual military service, and is absent from the district on the day of registration or election or is discharged from service within 30 days of an election; or (2) a spouse, parent, child, or dependent of such service member who is a qualified voter and is absent due to the service of a military member. Military ballots must be received by the District Clerk not later than 5:00 PM, prevailing time, on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. Jodie L.
