LEGAL NOTICE NOTICE OF ANNUAL PUBLIC HEARING ON THE BUDGET, ANNUAL MEETING, SCHOOL DISTRICT ELECTION AND BUDGET VOTE NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the Board of Edu- cation of the New Paltz Central School District, Ul- ster County, New York will hold a Public Hearing on the Budget at the Auditorium at the New Paltz Middle School, New Paltz, New York, on Wednes- day, May 6, 2026 at 6:30 P.M. for the purpose of presenting the budget document for the 2026- 2027 School Year. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN, that a copy of the statement of the amount of money which will be required for School District purposes during the 2026-2027 school year (the Budget), exclusive of public monies, may be obtained by any resident of the District during business hours, between 9:00 A.M. and 3:00 P.M., at each of the District's schoolhouses and at the Administrative Offices, effective April 29, 2026, except Saturday, Sunday or holidays, and shall be available on the District's website and at public and free association librar- ies within the District. A Real Property Tax Exemp- tion Report prepared in accordance with Section 495 of the Real Property Tax Law will be annexed to any tentative/preliminary budget as well as the final adopted budget of which it will form a part; and shall be posted on District bulletin board(s) maintained for public notices, as well as on the District's website. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN, that the Annual Meet- ing, Election of Members of the Board of Educa- tion and Vote on the Budget, will be held on Tues- day, May 19, 2026, at the Gymnasium at the New Paltz High School, New Paltz, New York, between the hours of 7:00 A.M. and 9:00 P.M., prevailing time, when the polls will be open for the purpose of voting by voting machine: To elect three (3) members to the Board of Educa- tion, two of which are for three-year terms, com- mencing July 1, 2026 and expiring June 30, 2029, and one (1) of which is for the unexpired term as a result of a Board member resignation, currently vacant, commencing on or about May 20, 2026, and expiring June 30, 2027. To vote upon the appropriation of the necessary funds in the amount of $78,186,369.00 to meet the estimated expenditures for School District pur- poses for the 2026-2027 School Year (the Budget). To vote upon the following Proposition: Proposi- tion - Capital Improvement Project Shall the Board of Education of the New Paltz Central School District, Ulster County, New York, be authorized to construct improvements and up- grades to the School District's buildings, facilities and grounds, including new football scoreboard with video, air conditioning in High School audi- torium, new scoreboards and shot clocks in High School and Middle School gymnasiums, sound system for High School gymnasium, food trailer, sound system for Middle School auditorium, blue outside lock down/lock out lights, flexible seat- ing for classrooms, and playground equipment at Middle School, including original furnishings, equipment, machinery, and apparatus, and ancil- lary or related site or other work required in con- nection therewith, at a maximum estimated cost of $1,000,000; with the amount of up to $1,000,000 to be transferred from unappropriated and unas- signed fund balance from the 2025-2026 school year to the general fund to pay the costs of the above improvements? NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN, that pursuant to Sec- tion 2018-b and Section 2018-f of the Education Law, applications for absentee ballots and ap- plications for early mail ballots for the School District Election and Vote may be obtained at the District Office and on the District website. The application for absentee ballot or early mail bal- lot must be received by the District Clerk at least seven (7) days and no more than thirty (30) days prior to the election if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter or the day before the election, if the bal- lot will be picked up personally by the voter at the District Office. Written requests for absentee bal- lots and early mail ballots must be made at least seven (7) days and no more than thirty (30) days prior to the Election and Vote. Absentee ballots and early mail ballots must be received at the office of the District Clerk by no later than 5:00 P.M. prevailing time, on the day of the Election and Vote, May 19, 2026. Separate lists of all persons to whom absentee ballots, early mail ballots and military ballots have been issued will be available for inspection to qualified voters of the District at the Office of the District Clerk during regular office hours, 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. prevailing time, until the day of the Election and Vote. Any qualified voter may file a written challenge of the qualification of a voter whose name appears on any such list, stating the reasons for the challenge. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that Military Voters who are qualified voters of the District may obtain an application for a military ballot from the Dis- trict Clerk at 1 Eugene L. Brown Drive, New Paltz, NY 12561, by mail at 196 Main Street, New Paltz, NY 12561, Telephone (845) 256- 4020 or email: sermo@newpaltz.k12.ny.us, by no later than 5:00 P.M. on April 23, 2026. The Military Voter may indicate their preference for receiv- ing the application for a military ballot by mail, by facsimile or email. The completed application must also be received by the District Clerk by no later than 5:00 P.M. on April 23, 2026. Military bal- lots will be mailed or otherwise distributed no later than 25 days before the election.
