WAYNE COUNTY LEGAL NOTICE LEGAL NOTICE Red Creek Central School District NOTICE OF THE ANNUAL DISTRICT MEETING AND ELECTION/BUDGET VOTE NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a School District Budget Hearing will be held in the auditorium of the Red Creek High School on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at six o’clock p.m. (6:00 p.m.), Eastern Daylight Saving Time, in accordance with Education Law, for the presentation of the 2026-2027 Proposed Budget. NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that a copy of the statement of the amount of money which will be required for the ensuing 2026-2027 year for school purposes, exclusive of public monies, may be obtained by any taxpayer in the District during the fourteen (14) days immediately preceding the designated annual meeting date, except Saturday, Sunday or holidays at each of the school houses in which school is maintained and the District Office during the hours of nine o’clock a.m. to four o’clock p.m. (9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) local time. NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that the Annual District Meeting and Election/Budget Vote for the inhabitants of the Red Creek Central School District, Towns of Wolcott and Butler – Wayne County, and Towns of Sterling, Victory, and Conquest – Cayuga County, qualified to vote at school meetings in said District, will be held in the main foyer of the Red Creek High School in said District on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, from 12:00 noon to eight o’clock p.m. (8:00 p.m.) Eastern Daylight Saving Time, for voting by voting machine on the following: Proposition No. 1: 2026-2027 Budget Shall the budget for the Red Creek Central School District for the fiscal year commencing July 1, 2026 and ending June 30, 2027, as presented by the Board of Education, in the amount of $27,899,873 be approved and adopted, the required funds be appropriated and the necessary real property taxes required be raised by a tax on the taxable property in the District to be levied and collected as required by law? Proposition No. 2: Purchase of Vehicles to be Used in Student Transportation Shall the Board of Education of the Red Creek Central School District, be hereby authorized to expend $420,000 from the District’s existing 2020 Capital Bus Purchase Reserve Fund, established by the voters of the District on June 9, 2020, and to use such funds toward the purchase of one (1) 66-passenger school bus and three (3) 8-passenger vehicles for use in student transportation, at an aggregate maximum cost of $420,000, inclusive of trade in value? NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that Petitions nominating candidates for the office of Member of the Board of Education must be filed with the District Clerk between the hours of eight o’clock a.m. and four o’clock p.m. (8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.) and no later than 5:00 p.m., Monday, April 20, 2026. The following vacancies are to be filled on the Board of Education: two (2) - three-year terms beginning July 1, 2026 and expiring June 30, 2029, to fill the seats of the last incumbents, Elizabeth Decker and Stephanie Folds (whose terms expire June 30, 2026). Each nominating petition, a copy of which may be obtained at the District Office located on South Street, Red Creek, New York, must be directed to the District Clerk and must state the name and residence of the candidate, the length of term of office, and must be signed by at least twenty-five (25) duly qualified voters of the district. NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that applications for absentee ballots and early mail voting ballots may be applied for at the District Office on South Street, Red Creek, New York. Such applications must be received by the District Clerk no earlier than April 20, 2026 but at least seven days before the vote set in this notice if the ballot is to be mailed to the absentee voter or early mail voter, or the day before the vote if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the absentee voter. A list of persons to whom early mail voting ballots and absentee ballots are issued will be available for public inspection in the District Office during business hours on and after May 13, 2026 and on May 19, 2026, the day set for the election (except Sundays), and any qualified voter may challenge the acceptance of the early mail voting ballot and absentee voter’s ballot or a person on such list by making this challenge and the reasons for such challenge known to the inspectors of election before the close of the polls. Military voters who qualify to vote may apply for a military ballot. A military voter may designate a preference to receive a military voter registration, military ballot application, or military ballot by mail, facsimile transmission or electronic mail. Military ballot applications must be received by April 23, 2026, as military ballots must be transmitted by the District by April 24, 2026. All absentee ballots, early mail voting ballots, and military ballots must be received by the District Clerk not later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that Section 495 of the Real Property Tax law requires the district to attach to its proposed budget an exemption report. Said exemption report, which will also become part of the final budget, will show how the total assessed value of the final assessment roll used in the budgetary process is exempt from taxation, list every type of exemption granted by statutory authority, and show the cumulative impact of each type of exemption, the cumulative amount expected to be received as payments in lieu of taxes (PILOT) and the cumulative impact of all exemptions granted. In addition, said exemption report shall be posted on District Bulletin board(s) maintained for public notices, as well as on the district’s website. This notice is published by order of the Board of Education of the Red Creek Central School District, located in the Towns of Wolcott and Butler – Wayne County, and the Towns of Victory, Sterling, and Conquest - Cayuga County, New York.
