LEGAL NOTICE SENECA FALLS CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT MAY 19, 2026 ANNUAL BUDGET VOTE/ELECTION NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public hearing on the 2026-2027 school budget will be on Thursday, May 7, 2026 beginning at 6:00 p.m. This public budget hearing is being held pursuant to Section 2002 and 2017(5) (6) of the Education Law. NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN, pursuant to Section 2018-b of the Education Law that the election of members of the Board of Education, voting on the 2026-2027 budget; the purchase of buses using the Capital Reserve Fund-Purchase of Buses and/or the unassigned fund balance for the transportation of district students; establishing a reserve fund pursuant to Education Law Section 3651, which shall be known as the “2026 General Capital Reserve Fund” -not to exceed fifteen-million dollars ($15,000,000) plus amounts earned on deposit on reserve funds; and increasing the sum of the Seneca Falls Library Tax Levy from $387,000.00 to $406,000.00 and any other propositions submitted prior to the annual meeting, will be held on May 19, 2026. An applicant for an absentee ballot shall submit an application setting forth (1) their name and resident address, including the street and numbers, if any, or town and rural delivery route, if any; (2) that they are or will be, on the day of the school election, a qualified voter of the School District in which they reside, that they are or will be, on such date, over eighteen years of age, a citizen of the United States and has or will have resided in the School District for 30 days next preceding such date; (3) that they are unable to appear to vote in person on the day of the School District election for which the absentee ballot is requested because they will be on such day (a) a patient in a hospital, or unable to appear personally at the polling place on such day because of illness or physical disability or (b) because their duties, occupation, business, or studies will require them to be outside of the county of their residence on such day or (c) because they will be on vacation outside the county of their residence on such day or (d) absent from their voting residence because they are detained in jail awaiting action by a grand jury or awaiting trial or is confined in prison after conviction for an offense other than a felony. The school District Clerk must receive such application at least seven days before the election if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election, if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter. The school District Clerk, or designee, must receive absentee ballots no later than five (5:00) p.m. on the day of the election in order for the votes to be canvassed. Absentee ballot applications may be obtained from the office of the school District Clerk, located in the Operations Center, 2 Butler Avenue, Seneca Falls no earlier than 30 days before the election, nor later than seven days before the election if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the qualified voter. NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN, pursuant to Educ. Law §§2018-e (2) (b), 2018-f (2) (a), voters must submit an early mail ballot application to the school district. Qualified voters may apply for early mail ballots at the District Clerk’s office. Early mail ballots will be provided to any qualified voter of the school district upon receipt of a request by letter as permitted in districts without personal registration (Educ. Law § 2018-f(4)). The letter must be received by the District Clerk, or designee, no earlier than 30 days before the election and no later than seven days before the election. Upon receipt of the letter request, the District Clerk will send both the application and the ballot to the voter at the same time. Early mail ballots may be mailed, or issued in person, only directly to the applicant (Educ. Law § 2018-f (3)). The voter then completes both the application and the ballot and returns them together to the district. The school District Clerk, or designee, must receive early mail ballots no later than five (5:00) p.m. on the day of the election in order for the votes to be canvassed. The law specifically provides that the ballot will not be counted unless the completed application is returned with the ballot (Educ. Law § 2018-f (4)). NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that a copy of the amount of money which will be required for the ensuing year for school purposes and the Property Tax Report Card, exclusive of public money, may be obtained by any taxpayer in the district, during the 14 days immediately preceding the designated meeting date, except Saturday, Sunday or holidays, at the Board of Education Office, 2 Butler Avenue, Seneca Falls, New York between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. or any building where school is in session and on the school district website. NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that petitions nominating candidates for the office of the Board of Education must be filed with the District Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2026. The following vacancies to be filled on the Board of Education are (name of incumbents) Cara Lajewski, Joseph McNamara, and Erica Sinicropi. Each petition must be directed to the District Clerk; must be signed by at least twenty-five (25) qualified voters of the district; state the residence of each signer; and state the name and address of the candidate.
