NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING # 1 Sandusky County intends to apply to the Ohio Department of Development for program year 2026 under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, a federally funded program administered by the State. CDBG programs can fund a broad range of planning, community improvement and housing related activities that must be designed to primarily benefit low-moderate income people, aid in the prevention of elimination of slum and blight or meet an urgent need within the community. The County is eligible for the following PY26 Community Development programs, providing the County meets the applicable requirements: Community Housing Impact and Preservation Program (CHIP): biennial up to $400,000 for CHIP activities. Sandusky County is eligible to partner with the cities of Fremont, Clyde and Bellevue in PY26. Together, they may request up to $1,350,000 in CHIP funds. – designed to improve housing conditions and strengthen neighborhoods. The first of two public hearings will be held Wednesday April 9th, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. in the Sandusky County Commissioners office, 622 Croghan St. Fremont, OH. The purpose of this hearing is to provide citizens with pertinent information about the CDBG Program, including an explanation of CDBG funded programs for which the county may apply this fiscal year. The County, in partnership with the cities of Fremont, Clyde, and Bellevue, is preparing an application for CDBG funding under the CHIP, which also includes HOME funding from U.S. Department of HUD. An overview of this application will be included in the hearing. A second hearing with details of the CHIP application will be held later. Citizens are encouraged to attend this meeting on April 9th, 2026, to provide their input on the City's CDBG and CHIP programs.
