BOROUGH OF SOUTH COATESVILLE PUBLIC NOTICE NOTICE IS GIVEN that the Borough of South Coatesville will hold a public meeting at 7:00 PM on April 28, 2026 at the Borough Hall located at 136 Modena Road, South Coatesville, PA 19320 to consider the enactment of the following ordinance: AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOROUGH OF SOUTH COATESVILLE DISBANDING ITS POLICE DEPARTMENT AND ASSIGNING SOLE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PROVISION OF POLICE PROTECTION FOR THE BOROUGH OF SOUTH COATESVILLE AND ITS RESIDENTS TO THE PENNSYLVANIA STATE POLICE The Police Department of the Borough of South Coatesville currently works in cooperation with the Pennsylvania State Police to provide police protection for the Borough of South Coatesville (the “Borough”) and its residents. The Borough believes the disbandment of its Police Department and the associated cost savings would be financially beneficial for the Borough and its residents. Further, the Borough recognizes that the Pennsylvania State Police would provide comprehensive, quality police protection in a more efficient and cost-effective manner for the Borough and its Residents Finally, the Borough has duly notified the Pennsylvania State Police that the Borough will require its Police Protection. The proposed Ordinance will contain the following provisions: 1. The recitals of this Ordinance as set forth above are incorporated herein by reference. 2. Pursuant to the requirements of 8 P.S. §§ 1121-22, the Borough Code, the South Coatesville Borough Police Department is HEREBY DISBANDED effective on April 30, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. and upon the Pennsylvania State Police actively commencing law enforcement and police activities. The Pennsylvania State Police are HEREBY APPOINTED AND ACCEPTED as the police force of South Coatesville Borough effective May 1, 2026. 3. This Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon enactment hereof. An opportunity will be afforded to all interested persons in attendance to address the Borough of South Coatesville in the matter of this Ordinance. A full text copy the Ordinance is available for public inspection, and/or copies of the Ordinance can be obtained for a fee, at the Borough Hall at the address listed above during regular business hours, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., Monday through Friday (except holidays).
