Public Notice of Mining Permit Transfer
According to the "Noncoal Surface Mining Conservation & Reclamation Act" and the "Clean Streams Law", notice is hereby given that Scott's Hauling and Excavating, Inc., 1462 N. Franklin St., Chambersburg, PA 17202, has made application to the PA DEP to transfer an existing surface mining permit #28950801 ("Walls Shale Pit") from James L. Walls Excavating, 5364 Racetrack Road, St. Thomas, Pa 17252. Application will also be made for an accompanying GP-104 NPDES permit (discharge and stormwater) leading to Cambells Run. The mine is located in St. Thomas Twp., Franklin Co., at 2962 St. Thomas-Williamson Road, Chambersburg, Pa 17202. The permit area is for 5.0 acres. A copy of the application is available for public review at the Scott's Hauling and Excavating office (above) or the DEP Cambria District Mining Office ("DMO") at 286 Industrial Park Road, Ebensburg, PA 15931. Written comments, objections, or a request for a public hearing or informal conference should be
submitted to the DEP Cambria DMO (above) and must include the person's name, address, E-mail, telephone, and a brief statement to the nature of the objection.
